Yes. I come from a place where spacefaring is a millenia old tradition.

I've gotten the impression that that is uncommon among the other residents here.

The more advanced countries of my world have the ability to travel in space.. but we do not have technology to make living off-world worthwhile for large groups, or to reach other inhabitable planets.

I can see how that would be challenging. Hyperdrive is the cornerstone of galactic civilization.

And unfortunately still a matter for science fiction for us. We have our hopes, though.

That is the very thing which so unsettles me about this place.

It's quite disconcerting. Beautiful, but I can never quite shake the feeling that something is deeply wrong.

The, uh, "wife" in my house became one not long after I arrived.

[Norway gives a sympathetic wince at that. The woman he was living with was.. well, a little rough around the edges, but she wasn't that bad, he supposed, and at least she still had her own mind]
