[Action - 305 Miller Street]
[Something is very...off when she wakes up. It has to do with the fact that she's in a soft bed, and with the fact that the Leapfrog's rattle even allowed her to sleep in the first place- or the fact that for the first time in a long time, she's feeling slightly chilly.
Family members might catch the tall blonde (in place of the smaller drone girl) peering out the doorway of her room, but not before she makes a quick phone call-- ]
[Phone]
Nico, Chase, Victor, Molly, Klara-- Julie?
Please be there.
[Action - Grocer]
[Karolina's in the fruit section, scowling at the tiny selection, ocasionally picking up an object to examine. She frowns at it. This stuff couldn't be all-organic.]
Seriously? [Find out what's wrong?]
[Action - Mayfield - Night]
[It's nighttime. And Karolina Dean is a normal girl, sitting huddled up on a bench on the side of the road, shivering slightly. She's human. For the first time ever, she's 100% completely human. Normal.
...Almost normal. Close enough to normal. This place has tricked her into thinking, just for a moment, that it can all be okay. Mayfield has swept her off her feet, taken her away from her friends, and given her a gift she thought she'd never have. She's just another girl.
She lets out another breath, a puff of air in the chilly night.]
I could get used to this.

I could get used to this.

It's then she notices the biggest change. Her own body, not Karolina's shape, her hands, her skin, her hair. The body she created herself, for her beloved, but the body she made. Panic flares in her- What if this is all a Majesdanian trick, no they can't know they have her and not Karolina, Karolina must be safe - and it only grows when she finds her body not responding to her brain's commands to change, to shift.
For once, her body is stuck, and the very idea is terrifying.
Panic swells even as Xavin tries to crush it, leaving the room of this knew place to hurry down the stairs. If this is a trick she has to get out, find a way to Earth, to Karolina and protect her. In her haste the phone is knocked over and then Karolina speaks and Xavin starts. Her beloved was here, or was calling. Body still she pauses, before slowly picking up the telephone, carefully holding it to her ear]
...Karolina?
Phone
It can't be true. It's too good to be true. But Karolina's not strong, not against this- and she breaks easy. She broke the moment she heard that whisper.
She lets herself believe it to be true when she knows it can't be true.
Xavin!
Phone
The nights were so much colder without her beloved. Space was colder, and emptier, in a way it had never been before.
Her grip tightening on the phone, Xavin leans against the wall, her mind racing for all the things she wants to say, all the words her tongue holds back. She's scared, what if too much time has passed, what if Karolina is angry with her, what if she's forgotten her. In the end she swallows, picking the safest words she can think of.]
...How are you. Are you safe?
Phone
Of course I'm -- Xavin is that really you? [The question spills out before she can stop it. She doesn't want to, but there's a little bit of disbelief in her voice]
Phone
I... yes. It is me. I... [The smallest crack in her voice shows] Karolina I cannot shift. I'm stuck.
Phone
You're...stuck? [Mind racing. She had been so relieved to hear Xavin that she hadn't even thought of the shape shifting part of her.] You can't-- [Karolina tensed, then realized just what it was that she had felt missing] -- I'm stuck too. [and finally, the question she didn't really want an answer to] W-what are you stuck as?
Phone
Human. Female. [And now she'll ignore the voice telling her how lucky it's not a male form, the ache that had it been it would have caused more tension. And then the ache that always comes when she recognises Karolina's will be happy with this. She'll ignore it all.] You... you are stuck in your human form then?
Phone
Right. Oh my god. [She takes a sharp breath] Don't you ever do that to me again!
Phone
Phone
Phone
Don't you understand? Without you I have nothing. My home is gone, my people would likely scorn me. Your home is on Earth and you have so much more. I wasn't going to let you sacrifice that. As lonely as you may have been, I would have been lonelier. I love you, and even if I die, I'll die knowing you're safe.
[Her piece said, Xavin falls into silence utterly aware how much emotion she just showed.
Phone
Did they hurt you? [Its a stupid question, she asks it anyway.]
Phone
No. [And if they have it's information Xavin will never share with Karolina.]
Phone
I didn't know if I'd ever hear from you again- I've missed you, so much.
Phone
But she tired and worn. Sitting is nice]
...I do not think I like space anymore. It is different from when I was with you.
Phone
Phone
Softly she hums, eyes half closed and savouring the sound of Karolina's voice]
... Do you know where we are? It looks like Earth but... different.

He is walking down the hallway with just a pair of cotton pants on, toothbrush and cup of water in his hand as he makes his way to the bathroom. That's when he sees the unfamiliar girl peering out the door.]
"Uh, hey there? Who are you?"
no subject
Me first. Who are you, and where are we?
no subject
"I'm Cade. Sir Cade Masters II. You, like myself and many others, have been pulled to a place called Mayfield by an unknown force and made into what they consider to be 'normal'.
I am not an enemy, and I will not hurt you."
Action - Night
[The voice comes from behind and a little to the right, down the road from the bench where she's sitting.]
...though maybe I should ask what it is that you could get used to?
[There's a woman in a long skirt and sweater, with a scarf wrapped closely around her neck. The scent of rose perfume can be picked up from even that distance... and she looks about half-dead.]
Action - Night
The clean air and lack of crime. It's refreshing, after LA.

This place would be different from Los Angeles. And it's a nice night, tonight. But I'd stay on your guard. Not every night is a nice one around here.
[ action | night ]
[ Says a voice from a tree ]
Re: [ action | night ]
Why? Or the boogie man in a tree might get me?
no subject
Because it's what they want you to do.
[Grocer]
action - night
Of what? Sleeping outside?

[ He taps the racket against his shoulder. ]
What're you gonna get used to then anyway?
305
And you are?
Re: 305
Karolina. Who are you?
Re: 305
Jenny Sparks. Guessing you're the new house mate.
[Well, at least it wasn't just her and Cade anymore. Maybe he'd be able to get the hint.]
Come with me, I've got something to show you.
[She hung a left into her bedroom, lighting up as she did.]

This explains it better then most people could. As far as I can tell it's all true.

Yes, I am quite sure that this food is quite serious at being what it is suppose to be. I am still unsure how it finds it way here though, I have yet to see a truck bring in the stock. It just appears in the back rooms and storage area overnight.
