Does anyone in my Spanish class have any food allergies? I'm going shopping for Friday's class and I don't want to accidentally send anyone to ER. It's Cinco de Mayo this Saturday, a little fun is in order.

[Caroline's pushing a cart through the produce section, picking up the makings for salsa and other goodies for her class. It does look a bit odd, as she's picking up a ridiculous amount of tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and other produce. Either her household goes through a lot of vegetables or she's up to something.]

Huh, I can handle that. I'd bring beer but it's not that kinda party.

[He chuckles.]

I'll bring punch. Not big on the pop thing. They'll have t' bring their own if they want that.

No beer on school grounds. I'm not getting busted for encouraging the delinquency of a bunch of minors or whatever else they'd call it.

Don't spike the punch, either. Drunk drones would be sad, not funny.

[He laughs at the thought.]

Yep. That's all we need. Staggerin' drunk drones drollin' on about their miserable lives an' cryin' t' Patsy Cline. That's a pretty pathetic picture. I'll leave the vodka and rum out.

Would they even sell you rum and vodka in this place? What was the legal drinking age in the 1950's?

Pfft, no. I get it from my mum figure here. She's pretty cool as long as I don't go all stupid with it. 'Sides, I was messin' with ya.

I feel like I'm missing out, hanging out with the drones at my place. Peaceful, sure, but they seem kind of helpless sometimes.

Ooh, yeah, I can see the problem with that. I'm not eighteen yet, but you can get it pretty easy though. They don't check I.D.'s here if ya tell the clerks that you're buyin' for your mum or pop. A li'l trick, it's easy t' get just about anything except condoms. Don't ask me how I know that.

I'm one of the 'mom's so I can just go in and grab whatever. I figured that out the first night I was here when I grabbed the husband's wallet and went to get a bottle of tequila.

. . . la la la la I don't want to know about you buying condoms.

You're stuck with a drone hubby? Ouch. I think that'll drive anyone t' drink. I got a drone sister an' she drives me nuts.

Yeah, and a drone kid. It makes for a peaceful household, but a very creepy one. There's such a thing as too perfect, and they honestly like the most bland food.

Yeah, that's not very pleasant in the sense of perfection. We all got our own views of it. Ew on the food bit though. I'd hate not havin' bologna sandwiched with just mayo an' nothin' else. Had that happen once and it's gross. They seem t' like green bean casserole an' meatloaf a lot.

Bologna sandwiches with just mayo? That sounds horrible. But this guy likes pot roast and keeps saying I know how to make the best pot roast ever. Not that I know how to make one at all.

It's gross. Yeah, you could feed 'im burnt toast an' salt lick an' he'll still think you're the best cook in town. Trust me on this one. I said that same shit when I was droned and my mum isn't that great a cook. If it's not me doin' it, it's my pop.

I'm still going to feel bad if he gets food poisoning or malnutrition. Besides, I want to eat half way decent, so I might as well cook halfway decent. I'll just tell him its pot roast next time, see if he buys it.

Yeah, that's where I fall in too. I can't do that to my drone li'l sister either.
