03 - Prankfield: Joker Learns to Prank

[A - 2239 Stevens]

[Hajime, realizing that there is far, far too much shame involved in pranking people, has decided to disguise himself for some of his pranks. (For one thing, he'll be going after a harmless old lady, how awful.) He wants the costume to be ridiculous enough to contribute to the overall ludicrousness of the prank and to be memorable enough that people focus on the costume and not him.

Anyone nearby 2239 Stevens will have seen him furtively carrying large amounts of rubber mats into the garage. He may dart outside for some thing or another that he's forgotten, and he won't make eye contact. He's also stolen a variety of his not!wife's sewing supplies. Housemates may be able to get into the garage, where you'll find him trying his masterpiece on, although the head's not finished yet.]

[B - Anywhere]

[With the monster suit finished, Hajime isn't actually sure he wants to go through with wearing the stupid thing. He just might try a few little pranks without it first...or he might cave and break the stupid thing out anyway. At the moment, he's wearing a trenchcoat, and he's got various pranking supplies hidden in its various pockets...even though he may not really know how to use them all effectively yet.

His focus on trying to find his own targets also leaves him ripe for the pranking, should anyone who's been assigned him spot him wandering the streets.]

[C - 848 Goldberg Street, that night, locked to Malcolm Reynolds]

[How convenient of you to sleep up on the rooftop, Mr. Reynolds! You were a hard man to find during the day. There is now a short man in a bad googly-eyed monster suit skulking around the house...and he has a makeshift slingshot. And water balloons.

INCOMING! The "monster" is now firing water balloons at Mal's sleeping form. His aim is quite good.]

[D - The lake, locked to Granny Weatherwax, forward-dated to the next day]

[Hajime has saved his most shameful target for last. Really, Mayfield, having him prank a harmless old lady? Still, it should be easy enough. He's once again wearing the monster suit (which may or may not have been repaired depending on how his other pranks go), and he's currently hunting for his target. When he sees Granny, he's just going to jump out and wave his arms around while making generic monster noises. Should be easy enough, right?]

Yes, but... didn't you use your weapons to protect people? Like a bodyguard?

[ hmmm this amane person might be his client! she finally notices the comfort eating and just tries to smile, slightly embarrassed. ]

You could finish that if you'd like.

[Slow, slow nod. His powers have gotten away from him in the past, to put it mildly.]

For the most part. It's all I wanted to do, anyway. Protect people.

[Oh, was the comfort eating that obvious? Platina's not the only one who's a bit embarrassed.]

Yeah...I think I will. Thanks.

[Hey, at least he smiled again.]

[ yeah, she likes that look better. and hey a pie is the least she can do after ripping him off for all those cookies... hhhaha. ]

I that trust you had the best of intentions. And I'm sure that people will come to recognize that, eventually.

[Hey, he liked those cookies. Hid them and refused to share with his not!wife...he's totally demolished the pie now. He is both disgusted with himself and feeling a rather disturbing sort of "I totally demolished that pie" pride.]

I tried, yes. It's just that there were times I don't think my best was good enough...if I ever get back there, I'll be better than I was before.

[Leaning back on the bench now, feeling some pie-induced bloating...]

You may be too harsh on yourself, but... let's hope that we'll be able to return to our respective homes soon.

[ aww, this is why overeating is so unclassy! she tries to hide a giggle but might not succeed. ]

[He nods.]

It's about all one can hope for at this point.

[And yes, bloated. So bloated. Trying hard to hide bloatedness. He catches her giggle but it really only seems to amuse him.]

Thanks for letting me help with that. It was a good pie. Possibly a little too good.

Is there such a thing? I'm sure that my estate cooks could outdo Mayfield's bakery, for instance.

It's too good if it makes you eat most of it without meaning to...

[Yeah, he's probably not moving from this bench for a while. Seems a little sheepish, too.]

I see... you may be right about that.

[ she looks pretty concerned 8( ]

Will you be okay?

Oh, I'll be fine. Just need a bit of time to digest, I suppose.

[He seems calm enough about it, just chilling there on the bench. Really it's not a bad day to be laid up on a park bench after overindulging in pie, though he'd really prefer it hadn't happened while he was wearing a rubber monster suit...]

I hope that you don't have any urgent appointments for the rest of the day.

[ she doesn't! and yeah chilling here sounds like a pretty good plan, pranking is tiring work for a young lady. ]

[He shakes his head.]

I was heading home for a bit of a break, actually. Any of my other pranks can wait for tomorrow...or at least later tonight.

It's been a busy day. We probably deserve a break...

[ heaving a sigh and half-closing her eyes. it's times like these that mayfield almost doesn't seem so bad~ ]

Busy and more than a little strange. A break would do us both some good.

[He's not quite willing to close his eyes; he's lazily keeping an eye out for potential roaming pranksters.]

Exactly.

[ she's nnnot really drifting off, but half-asleep, resting her head against the scarf on her shoulder. ]

[He's not sure if she's falling asleep or not, but he's still being all watchful for potential pranksters. Not that he looks like he is; he's got his feet propped up on the monster mask and is probably closer to dozing off than he'd care to admit.]
