[If you are to walk around town today, you might see a flyer on some of the buildings or poles. If or when you read it, it'll go as follows.]

Are you tired of this town's mysteries? Do you have an inquisitive mind? Or are you having some troubles aside from the obvious ones?

Then come to Shoutaro Hidari's Detective Agency. We solve all cases Hard-Boiled Style.

If you have some information about the town you'd like to share, I'm up to building an information network. We can share with each other about what we find. Everyone is welcome to pop in, but people with investigative/minds for puzzles and the like are high up on the list.

We are located in MacCready & Sons Law Office.

[Shoutaro is sitting with his back to the door, cooly waiting for people to reply. He's even added a nice sign for the agency, which thankfully the drones have yet to question him about (though he IS ready for that eventuality.). If he hears a knock at the door he'll answer.]

A couple of weeks. This town is the perfect mystery.

Plus, it might help me to find any more of my friends that have been taken here if I investigate.

It's been nuts alright.

So. What DO you know about this place? Lucy Smith? Her old mom Samantha who liked music. That cop guy? Westport, Soviet version of Mayfield?

The Soviet thing is new. Though, from the setting, I'm not really surprised.

I've heard those names around, but wasn't able to get much info on them.

And that does remind me, I should visit the Police Station.

Last...July I think it was. Yeah. Fourth of July. Town turned into some parody of Communist Russia. Kinda like this place but more beets. We all got impossible jobs to do and a lot of people got killed.

Apparently it was some OTHER version of Mayfield or something. 'Cause the normal group dragged us back after a while. Only this Russian guy was stuck here and he kept running around town. Only then they found him and killed him.

So...they're not above killing their own captives, huh?

[This is reminding Shoutaro of a Museum or Foundation X plot. And his new scowl reflected that. He scribbled down a note.]

Nope. Oh and I meant, last ...last July. July we just had was somethin' else.

It's kinda hard to tell when the years don't change.

Yeah. They killed him. Samantha and Grady are dead, dead as well. Samantha ....wanted to die though. She was droned all the time and they kept her thinkin' she was Jane Smith, when she wasn't.

Those two were here before it all started though.

It must be. This place is like paint drying come to life.

They can do this 'droning' to anyone then. At whatever time they wish?

Yup.

You haven't been droned yet?

Nope. From the sounds of it, it doesn't sound highly appealing.

And yeah, they can do it whenever they want.

One time we had a riot to see if they could drone all of us?

Yeah, they kinda could.

So, I guess it's some kind of remote. That blows one of my theories out of the water.

What was your theory?

We have these things back home...Gaia Memories. They're shaped like USB drives, and when they're used, it transforms the person into whatever memory is stored on it. I've seen them mass produced before, and thought they'd somehow used it ion the people here.

Creepy. But nah, I've seen people get droned and I've been droned. It just...happens.

Yeah. And I'd think you'd notice a large USB being shoved into your skin. Plus...I haven't seen any insertion points...though I figured they could be disguised.

I dunno. The amount of time people kill or dissect each other here. I'm pretty sure someone would have noticed.

This place sounds more and more charming all the time.

[He takes his hat off, and sweeps his hair to the side a bit. A bit of a nervous habit.]

All the more reason to find a way out. Which is partly what this information net is all about.

A few. A couple of friends from back home, and one or two purely from here.

Drones?

Nah. A Miss Sarah Jane Smith and an Ed Nigma. Seemed like decent people.
