I hope everyone had a nice holiday season seeing as it's been awhile since I was able to talk to everyone. I ended up getting some more books from back home, I've got a mini collection now at least.

[ There's a small pause followed by an annoyed sounding sigh. ]

The siren noise outside is really bugging me. There's nowhere to read in peace and I can't sleep through the noise at all. It's not very good to make a kid sleep deprived you know.

Y-yeah it's kind of loud, isn't it...? I hope it quiets down soon...

I can handle a little bit of noise but this is really loud. Maybe someone has ear plugs I can borrow.

[Araya picks up the phone and listens to the voice behind it. It sounds almost familiar, but sentiments aren't alone to let Araya draw any connection. He simply listens to everything the little girl behind it has to say wordlessly until she is finished.]

Do you mean to say that you have no concern over what might be causing the siren beyond the noise itself?

I'm interested in whats causing the noise but if I check it out I might damage my ears. I value being able to hear so I'm going to try and wait it out like I did when it snowed really badly a few weeks ago.

... The noise will end soon. It appears to only be temporary and in response to something that happened somewhere in town.

Indeed. For now, there is little to do but wait.

Hm, wonder what happened in town to cause the noise though. You'd have to do something really big to set off something that can be heard all through-out the town.

Hopefully mother and papa are ok with the noise, it must be worse for people who have to go to work and do important things during the day.

Yes. But if it the scale of the incident is that grand, then others will have noticed it by now. It would seem that the incident is more contained. However, it certainly does still concern us... otherwise, going through the trouble of announcing it like this is unnecessary.

Well it's kinda confusing, mother and papa aren't from the same time as me. To them I won't be born for a few more years.

But they still care about me and even if it's a bit awkward I still love them a lot.

"From the same time"... Then this place is a separate dimension distant from your world. The movement of time appears to operate differently here. It's safe to assume that time here is not linear if nothing else.

... Even if they have not yet given you birth and they have no knowledge of you, they still care for you...

Yep, time here moves differently and a lot of people are from different point. But no matter what this time period stays the same, even if it's a new year nothing changes.

Parents care about their children no matter what, so even if I don't show up for a while in their time they can still care about me right now in this present.

[No matter what? Araya would object, but there's little point in doing so. It would be easy to disrupt this little girl's relationship with her parents. He ruined so many others anyway and he never had to intervene directly. All he relied on was the architecture of the Ogawa complex to force them into a state where the extremes seem that much more tempting. But there was no point in that here.

Still, the child seemed to understand the nature of this world fairly well. She seemed perceptive. It's refreshing, a little.]

Then should there be a way out, we will return to the present time we were taken from... and it will be as if nothing had happened. This place then is a spiral excluded from time in another plane...

I think that would be the case if anyone did end up getting sent home, I know on this side you get turned in to a drone. I'm sure you've noticed them by now, they're the towns people who seem to friendly and pre-programed.

Ah, I really should have introduced my self earlier before going on with how things work a little, I'm Mana Ryougi it's nice to meet you.

If it's not to much to ask, did my mother have something to do with your death? I don't really know much about some of the cases mother and papa worked on because they don't want me to get in to that sort of thing but I really want to find out more.

She was involved with investigating an incident under a former employer. My death came as a result of what had happened. But your mother and papa fulfilled their job as promised.

[Papa... Does she mean Kokutou? He was the only man involved so closely with her... Interesting. The boy with the Origin of Normality...]

So it was because you were part of the case somehow and in the end what ever you did prompted mother to take action. It sounds like it must have been very interesting, even if it resulted in your death.

I almost forgot to say who papa is, his name is Mikiya. If he was there with mother then you should know about him.

[ he's rather glad to hear her on the phone - easier than personally coming over there to check if she and Shiki are okay, even though he'll probably do that in a bit all the same.. ]

Mana.. [ there's a hint of concern, but it quickly turns into a more reassuring tone after. ] You're okay though, aside from the noise?

I'm perfectly fine, the noise is really annoying but it's bound to stop sometime soon.

Heh, that's right.. Someone who knows how to turn it off will notice eventually and do so, I guess. There's no way they wouldn't hear something this loud.

Maybe we should find something to cover our ears and try to find out whats causing the noise? It'd be like a little adventure in a way.

Sounds like a plan. I could come over right now, if you want.. I think the people in my house pretty much already have it covered.

That would be great, I don't know where mother is though maybe you could get her out from where ever she is in the house? Three people would be better for a search because we can cover more area.

That's right, it's probably better to stick together with the three of us in general in case something happens. We still don't know what exactly is up with the sirens, after all.

A few people said that the sirens might be over in a day or two. If thats the case you should spend the night, I don't think anyone would mind. You'd be able to be with us and we could stick together better.

Staying the night actually doesn't sound bad at all. [ all the better to keep an eye on them - besides, he enjoys their company, naturally. ] I'll just have to tell the people here that I'll be gone for the night or they might get worried.

[She waits till whenever Mana finishes her phone call to speak up.] There seriously nowhere in the house where you can't hear it?

Even covering my ears with a pillow doesn't really help. I'm sure ear plugs would work better but going in to town might not be a good idea if the noise is from that direction.

Hm... [Sticking her hand in her coat pocket and... all right money. :|a] Go stay in a closet or the bathroom for now then. I'll be back in a bit.

You'll end up hurting your ears if you go out though. [ She's giving Shiki a "please don't go" look. How can you say no to her? ]

It's not that bad to me. [No okay it kind of is but since when does she ever care about the state her body is in... Except MANA WHY DON'T DO THIS TO HER. w;A;w] Honestly, it won't even take that long, I'll be back before y'know it.

Even if you don't think it's that bad it will still hurt your ears in the long run. [ Because she's worried and doesn't want her mother to get hurt. ]

Man, did I ever tell you about myself at all? [i.e. have you heard of the things she's done because it would be pretty apparent then that she doesn't give five fucks about her personal well-being SCREAMS... though it doesn't look like she's leaving for time being]

That would be pretty annoying, not being able to concentrate.

I'm really surprised no one's managed to turn it off yet.

I know, given how long it's been on someone should have found out where it's coming from. Maybe the source is really loud and hurts your ears if you get to close and thats why no one's stopped it yet?
