[ Valentines Day ended in a way Winry did not expect. With +1 boyfriend and +10000 happiness. The happiness had confused her logic and let her spend the weeks following the event with a big smile and cheerful attitude. It's only now, long after the fact, that it suddenly clicks in Winry's mind that what just happened on Valentines Day needs a bit more thought. ]

Umm.... hey, Mayfield! It's been a while since I did this... oh geez, how do I even start, um.... hypothetically. If someone you, um... "love"... says that they "love" you back...

[ Action - School / Lunch ]
[ At lunch, Winry unloads some mechanical devices she stole from her house. Yeah, sorry dad. There's a missing clock being disassembled in the cafeteria, as Winry is trying to relieve stress by taking it apart and putting it back together as many times as possible. She has two packed lunches next to her. One definitely isn't for Ed, and he's insane if he even thinks that Winry would make him free food. No way. Forgot it. ]

I wish I could take the TV to school... There's got to be something more interesting to be taking apart.... [ She sighs and sets the complete clock aside. ] If I had spare parts then I could actually make something...

[ Action - Around Town ]
[ Winry is checking the stores in Mayfield for two things; things to be taken apart and things to be put together. She'll be popping into various stores all day, attracting drone attention as a teenage girl browses the hardware section and geeks over 1950s power tools. You might also find her checking the prices and writing them down. ]
They're so expensive... oh... but I really want one... [ She sighs, defeated by her lack of funds, and starts leaving the store again. ]

You know I've heard this call a few times. Even tried to help someone out with it, but I'm not the engineer I should be to offer what people did back when I'm from.

Yeah, someone who can read a schematic and has some tools. Skeets has the plans and I know most of the parts to salvage, but it really takes a fine hand for some of this stuff.

I generally just do repairs on my suit. My best friend, he was a gadgeteer so I ended up TESTING a lot of things, but I know there are a few mad genius types around, but, if you want Skeets could at least give you some schematics, and maybe you could see how well you are at ranged energy projector maintenance?

[Looking to build up his own tool box, he's browsing the selection of wrenches and socket drives with his hand on his chin.

At first, he didn't notice Winry in the same isle but what really caught his attention was the fact that most girls weren't allowed inside these places let alone allowed to buy them.]

Not really. Where I'm from, this is relatively cheap.

[Then again, he comes from about 50 years in the future.]

Cheap? Wait, does that mean you've seen these sorts of things before? Do you know how they work?

I wish I knew! I'm not even sure how to face him now. Are we supposed to be treating each other differently...? [ She sighs. ] Why do these things have to be so complicated?

I don't know. [She grumbles a little.] I guess... it's a good thing if it things don't change? I mean, if both of you liked each other before, why should things be different from then?

[Tsubaki is slightly interested in the girl taking apart the clock, and overhears her when she walks by.]

Maybe one of the teachers who isn't a drone will let you use on of the school televisions?

Do you think that'd be allowed? I mean, honestly... I don't know if I can take apart a whole TV yet. [ She laughs and moves the parts to the side, to make room for Tsubaki. ] Sorry, I hope I'm not in your way.

Well, I don't think it's not allowed. You could say it's extra credit for shop class? But I think that teacher is a drone. But, I don't think the other teachers will care. You aren't really breaking it, right?

[ Well, well. Ambrosia notices what Winry's doing and even picks up a bit on her whispering. She walks over to her, hands in her pockets. ]

Oi, what're ye lookin' fer, lass?

[handsforhealing]

Hm? [ She stops and turns to face Ambrosia, holding a power drill. ] Something I'd be allowed to buy, I guess. The prices here are insane and it doesn't help that I'm a girl. [ She stresses her gender sarcastically. Winry thinks it's stupid that girls can't buy power tools. ]

Tell ye what -- I'll help ye get what ye want. Can't be too hard, aye?

[School/Lunch]

[Emmett is carrying his school lunch tray and notices Winry disassembling the clock. Standing near her remarks]

I know exactly what you mean, Miss.

[ Winry sighs, frustrated and still focused on the clock. ]

Back home I make a living doing things more interesting than this! I wish I could have my job back. [ And then notices the man talking to her isn't someone she's met before. ] Oh! S-sorry, I didn't... I'm not in the way, am I?

Fascinating. Nothing wrong with an independent woman. You would think that twenty years into the future women wouldn't still be abided by so many laws.

Not at all. I just couldn't help but notice you working. [Smile] Mind if I sit here?

Hm? Oh, sure. That's fine. [ Winry smiles back. No sense being bitter with someone who isn't to blame for her having no job. ] And yeah, you'd think. I have a lot more freedom back home than here and it's years in the "past", apparently.

[Emmett takes a seat and leans forward] Tell me about the future.

Jeeze, Winry. What'd the clock do to piss you off?

[Don't mind him. He'll just be taking a seat next to her now and is maybe sort of kind of completely eying that second packed lunch there.]

She scatters the clock pieces from surprise. ]

The clock didn't do anything. I'm putting it back together too, you know!

[ She relaxes and, after collecting the pieces again, shoves the lunch towards him. ] Did you eat lunch yet?

Not yet, no.

[She slides the lunch over to him and for a moment he just looks at it.]

... Is this... is this for me?

[handsforhealing]

Of course it is! And I'm not just giving it to you so you can stare at it either, you know.

[A bit of a grin spreads across his face.

She made this for him.

Winry. Made. This. For. Him.

And that makes him stupidly happy.

Don't worry, Winry. That lunch is going to be gone in no time.]

He thanked her on his own.

Winry allows her bad temper to dissolve in the place of a smile. ] No problem. You've got to have good food to fuel your stupid antics. [ Her tone isn't entirely teasing. Winry's too happy to see him eat her homemade meal to be very mean to him. ]
