So Cain tells me there’s a lot of us living here. I’m a little curious to how many there actually is.

Apparently I have a job that no one bothered to tell me about until I got an angry phone call this morning asking why I hadn't shown up. Hairdesser? No, I don’t think so. I’m going to find something more tailored to my needs. Silence, it’s time to put your outfit to good use.

[C: Action; Outside the fire station]

[And so, Maladict is trying to blag her way into the firefighting force. Because that’s sort of like the military, right? She’s wearing the suit Silence made for her and looks very much like a dapper young gentleman, just as she did when she enlisted. She seems to be having trouble with the drone by the door though]

No. Seriously, I was called into work today. Maybe you’ve had some kind of mix-up with the numbers.

You sure are funny, little lady. Now run along home to your family

I’m not going to ‘run along’ anywhere, and who are you calling a lady? I want a job. You can’t tell me you don’t need able-bodied-HEY!

[The drone clamly pushes her back towards the street]

I know you really want to save kittens, M’am. But leave it to the professionals. You can help out at our next bake sale if you like

[And so Maladict is left seething outside the fire station as the drone walks in, shutting the door behind him]

Don't you think the drones count as sentient at all?

Oh, no, not at all. I've been here long enough to know this well. They may bleed like a human, but that's roughly where the similarities end.

They come back like everyone else, of course. Killing them isn't necessary though.

More or less. I don't believe anyone here needs to eat that much, and no one I know of is quite so gluttonous. [EXCEPT THAT'S A LIE sometimes but Maladict doesn't need to know that, clearly...] It's beneficial to everyone to at least try keeping some semblance of peace here, so you won't find any drained corpses lying out in the streets, if that's a concern.

[No, no she does not need to hear these things] That was a concern, glad to know it won't be the case.

[some things are better off learned first-hand than spoken of] Indeed. ...Ah, but while you may not find drained corpses, the malice found in some members of the city means that you might occasionally find corpses regardless of whether or not they were used as food.

Rather unfortunate, but unavoidable. It's best to stay on your guard even when the town isn't acting up.

That was my plan anyway, I don't trust this place at all.

That's a good mentality to keep. Those who put too much trust into things here are usually the ones who get hit the hardest when ill fortune comes.
