infourbooks: Neville holding a quill and looking toward the ceiling (Thinky thoughts)

So a wizard walks into a high school...

[Action: Mayfield High]

[Neville is going about his regular school routine. It mostly consists of looking at his textbooks in puzzlement, even after a month. And occasionally mumbling to himself.]

No, that's not it... how did that...

[Phone, evening]

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I'm having. I was never exactly awful at Muggle Studies. But here everything is Muggle Studies. I think I'm in a bit over my head. I'm supposed to have been learning this all my life but there's nothing about Merlin in these history books.

And then science. Some of it looks like herbology and potions, but not really. So basically, what I'm trying to say is...

Could someone help me revise?

Ah-

Humans then?

I do not know much... But I may be able to help. I have observed as much as possible for quite some time! [...That just sounds creepy Astral, don't.]
originalnumber: (...Yes?)

So then, you are like... A separate branch of human.

... Intriguing...

...Is there anything in particular you would like help with first?

Mm.

History may pose a few troubles... However, I may be able to help with science.

What are you currently studying in that subject?
originalnumber: (It was an honest statement.)

[personal profile] originalnumber 2012-02-23 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
The periodic table of elements. [...He saw it in a book~]

The table contains not only metals however, in case there are elements you are studying that are not solid in any form.
originalnumber: (It was an honest statement.)

Ah-

Then you are studying not only metals, but the entire table!

The Periodic table is comprised of all elements forming the earth- gases, solids, and even liquids in certain states.

However, I find that most do not have my memory, so it may prove difficult to recall each one.
originalnumber: (Hey. Did you know.)

[personal profile] originalnumber 2012-02-23 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm. Perhaps then, you should first look into ways to improve memory.
originalnumber: (It was an honest statement.)

[personal profile] originalnumber 2012-02-23 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"What have you found so far?"
originalnumber: (It was an honest statement.)

[personal profile] originalnumber 2012-02-23 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
...Hmmm...

Have you tried something called 'flash cards'?
originalnumber: (It was an honest statement.)

[personal profile] originalnumber 2012-02-25 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"On the contrary- they are cards containing questions which you must answer. The idea is that the cards are quickly revealed, one at a time, and the answer given just as quickly.

"In the end, it forces the mind to try and recall the correct answer at a quicker speed, making it easier to remember the answer at all. So, for example.

"We could create cards with the symbols on the Periodic table- when a card is shown, you would immediately call out what you think the answer is, and you would find out if you were correct or not. If not, it is added to the deck once more, and eventually, cards remaining in the deck are run through again.

"It is apparently an extremely useful way of remembering things such as this."
originalnumber: (This isn't that bad actually.)

[personal profile] originalnumber 2012-02-25 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
".... I suppose it is.

"It's something that can be done even alone, so you would not require another person to be present- which means you could study whenever you felt necessary."
originalnumber: (This isn't that bad actually.)

[personal profile] originalnumber 2012-02-25 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
"If you like, I could help you form the cards."
originalnumber: (It was an honest statement.)

[personal profile] originalnumber 2012-02-25 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"We will need markers, card, and scissors, in that case."
originalnumber: (This isn't that bad actually.)

[personal profile] originalnumber 2012-02-26 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps we should get started then. Do you have the 'table' with you, or perhaps a textbook?"
