[When the flowers appear, he has a vague sense something is going to happen. His first move is immediately to shove them all down the garbage disposal. Nothing good can come of Mayfield being cute for the approaching human holiday he's all too aware of. Holidays are never good here, no matter that this one actually sounded sort of nice. But they come back right away and that's that.

It's when he catches himself noticing and caring that the flowers smell good that he really gets concerned, and he goes to try and throw them out before they make him grow extra limbs or send him on a murder spree but instead he's smelling them, and actually that smells kind of awful but awful in a good way, like medicine when you have a bacteria in your mucus ducts and suddenly they're clear. Like that only instead it's his head and it's not clear of mucus but awful fucking thoughts. He knows it's an effect but it's a good one, maybe the town is actually doing something good for him, he sure deserves it.

And that's the difference. He feels...happy isn't the right word, but who needs happy, it's a temporary state of being that always gets crushed brutal like a skittering insect getting its insect guts everywhere so you have to pick up the mess instead of getting on with your life. What he feels is all right, with himself, with being himself. More than all right because for so long he's had this horrible weight to him, weighing him down so hard he couldn't stand it, and now it's gone. They're gone, all of those headache inducing selfish trying worthless painful idiots who somehow made him care so much he couldn't function at being himself. It was a crime-- being himself is not the shit show he let them convince him it was with all their unsubtle digs and guilt and overdependence. Being himself is good, and he deserves so much better than tired shit and self-loathing. He feels good.]

[Karkat can be found a little later sitting on the couch in the living room, watching his romcoms. He looks like he's actually, for once, maybe in a good mood. At least he's looking relaxed and letting himself sort of smile at the funny parts instead of looking grumpy and frustrated the whole time.

If anyone else comes into the room he doesn't acknowledge them at all.]

Hey, here's a relief. For once I'm not calling about stupid waste of time list projects no one cares about. If you do need some help with something, anything at all, please put your request in writing, stamp and address it, and shove it up your spinal crevice. I actually have a life and better things to do.

With that out of the way, I just wanted to say that as for the vast majority of you, let's never talk again, I'm over it. If you are concerned about whether or not this applies to you, feel free to ask. It can count as our one and final courtesy conversation.

[So later on, after realizing his hatred of everyone definitely does not apply to Doc Scratch, Karkat will be found at school or around town wearing a felt green tuxedo. He seems to have a creepy looking puppet dressed in an outfit matching his along with him.

If you've previously had any sort of positive interaction with him, he'll give you a disgusted look and try to avoid you. Otherwise, he's just doing normal stuff.]

((Karkat is under the influence of the pitcher plant, so if he knows you in any sort of positive way which is most people he knows, he hates you now. If he hated you, he likes you. He also is under carnations for Doc Scratch in the last part because I'm awful, and any previously agreed upon effects for everyone else.

If there's something you want just ask!))
