[Wes steps out of the house on his way to his oh so thrilling job. He stops and staresn at the airspeeder sitting in the driveway]

Is that? Oh that is!

[Action: All over Mayfield]

[Wes isn't flying anywhere in particular. He's just flying. Because he can. He'll stop for those he knows... to show off his new toy. Okay, and for any total stranger who flags him down]

[Action: 2237 Stevens]

[He does, eventually, turn serious. In the end, flying has always helped him clear his head. And when that happened, he knew where he had to go. Knocking on Gavriel's door.]

Just who I was looking for. It's not space, but it's nice to be off the ground a bit.

Oh? I have found people only seek me out for a few reasons. Is there a battle to be fought? Do you wish to discuss the last undertaking?

[ He shrugs, looking back to the back pack and fiddling with it, using his tools, some of which are unfamiliar-looking. ]

Space is just another place for war, to me. It has rules different from land, but there is only war in either, of late.

You get used to fighting certain places, the rules start to be the ones that make the most sense. But yes, that last mission.

We did. If we'd known... but we didn't. There really wasn't anything that we could have done differently.

Yes. That really is a giant space shuttle following you. Nena sort of does this anyone who can fly. It's her thing. ]

[Wes swings his speeder around to get a better look at that]

Whoah.

[ If he has really good eye sight, he can see a teenage girl piloting the machine. She has a very content, if seemingly blankly creepy, smile but that could just be the lighting! ]

[He nudges the speeder closer, not sure he's really seeing what he thinks he's seeing]

[ She continues to drive the shuttle as she sings a particularly interesting tune that she picked up from Lucy nearly a year ago. He might be able to hear it if he has an acute enough sense. ]

[Tyve tries to sneak out from the house to school, bent on trying to avoid her not!dad right now. The whole hallucinating things that weren't happening and trying to shoot people is a particularly awkward subject for the teen. As a soldier she should face whatever consequences occurred from her actions, but as a teenager, she just wants to avoid getting in trouble.

She almost makes it too, close to a convenient shrub to hide behind, until she spots Wes admiring his...Whatever it is.]

[Wes runs a hand over the machine in a fond manner]

[Okay, the only time she's seen that sort of affection towards a mechanical thing was when her (real) father got his hands on the latest automobile...So by process of deduction...]

So it's for transportation?

Mostly. We do use them for combat, too.

[He takes a look]

They seemed to have left off the blasters though.

Using it as a combat vehicle? [She seems genuinely fascinated by it. If only they had something like this back home...] But how does it move? You said it's an airspeeder, but.. [There's no inflatable chamber or even rickety wings that she can see on this thing.]..How does it even move, Major?

[She's just going to stand here admiring this contraption with you, not!dad.]

[Wes crouches down and points to some conical shapes on the bottom]

Those are called repulsors. They generate their own gravity that pushes up against the planet's mass and lifts the speeder into the air. We used them when we were actually fighting on a planet.

[OKAY. This isn't going to get more technical is it? Tyve's comprehension just sort of stops at self contained gravity. You're speaking crazy future talk, Wes! Though she thinks she's gotten the jist of it.]
