A; around town
[After her little portal excursion, Bernkastel has decided to go exploring as a cat. It's surprising what you can learn in this sort of form, after all--people are much more willing to disclose secrets to an animal. So if you'd like, you can find her about town--on fences, in trees, and maybe up in your business if you're doing something interesting.]
B; in a tree
[Or, if you would like to choose the more amusing option, you can find her stuck in a tree. Not like most cats are, meowing to get down, but literally stuck--it seems one of the branches decided to flicker in and out of existence just long enough for Bernkastel to get caught in the middle of one.
Her fur puffed out and looking incredibly indignant, her first thought is to look around to make sure no one actually saw that. If no one's looking, she can teleport. If not, this is going to become even more embarrassing very quickly.]

Lucky for Bern, Rika does not recognize this cat. ]
Mi~ Miss Kitty, you should not be playing up there when the town is behaving this way. [ She will not climb the tree to retrieve the cat. She does not think the cat is worth risking getting stuck up there too. ]
no subject
Rika doesn't seem to recognize her, though, so she can't break character. She meows, maybe a bit impatiently.]

She almost makes it but ends up catching her tail and back paws in the branch.]
no subject
Now now, careful. That must be hard on your poor kitty tail. [ Against better judgment, Rika starts climbing up the tree. Sitting on the branch and holding out her hands to pick up Bernkastel and hold her in the air, so that gravity doesn't yank on her tail or back paws. ] There there. Mayfield is being quite the trickster to poor kitty cats today.
no subject
But she calms down and settles herself, like any cat would, trying to act as if nothing is wrong at all. Occasionally she twitches her tail or tries to yank her legs up out of the branch, but it's remaining stubbornly solid.]
no subject
[ Even if it tempted her, Rika wouldn't drop the strange cat now. Not after offering her help. To Rika, that seems too cruel for even a prank. ]
Are you one of the drone cats? Or did you get stuck here too? [ She pauses her words and begins petting Bernkastel. Poor Bern. ] Of course, you can't answer, hm?
no subject
Though, now that the thought occurs to her, would Rika really know it was her if she did? If Rika dismissed her as another malfunctioning drone, that would be alright. On the other hand, if Rika knew it was her she would hear about it.
She lingers in her indecision.]
no subject
[ She catches up on this at least. Then again, wouldn't all cats be kind of moody in this situation? Rika doesn't think much of it. She just continues to pet Bern like she would any other cat; around her chin and such. ]
I wonder how much longer this will go on. I do not want to go to sleep some night and wake up trapped in my bed or anything. This is annoying and tiresome of you, Mayfield.
no subject
She does meow again, though, as if that might encourage Rika to continue talking.]
no subject
Tch. If this is what I get for speaking poorly of Mayfield then so be it. [ Pet pet. A bit faster as Rika calms herself down. ] At least you'll be safe now. Next chance, we'll get out of this tree for good.

She meows again at Rika, tail this time twitching just at the very tip.]
no subject
[ Rika lowers herself to her knees, to bid the cat farewell. Truly relieved to see that cat she spent so much time worrying over is okay. ]
Be careful of the trees for now. If you get stuck again I might not be there to get you out, you know.
no subject
Still, she allows Rika to say her goodbye before she runs off through the grass. She vanishes, having teleported home, as soon as she gets out of sight.]
A - Around Town
Milkshake, milkshake, gonna get a milkshake...
[He would worry about who he'd beg the milkshake from once he got to the soda shop.]

Nyaa?
[Was this a Mayfield cat? He had been ignoring the drone-cats that Mayfield had put here and there. They were no fun.]
...are you real, nyaa?
A
She'll just stare at it with this happy face and barely-audibly squeal, please. Distractions help.]

[Aurica squatted down and meowed back. She was enthralled, but at the same time curious if the cat would understand her trying to communicate. It worked with at least one other feline here in the past, so it was worth trying.]
A
Toni knows better than to give in to her baser instincts. But sometimes, sometimes she just can't help it.
BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK.]

Bernkastel darts off down the sidewalk, trying to decide if this is another shapeshifter (in which case she should keep up the cat act) or just someone's pet (in which case vanishing would be fine).]

A
G'day there mate.

Turning, looking up, Natsuki's eyes widen. ]
Are you stuck, kitty-chan?
[ He hasn't actually seen how she's stuck. ]
Would you like help down, kitty-chan?
no subject
She struggles in an attempt to get free, finds the branch isn't letting her loose, and meows at the passerby.]
no subject
Just wait there, kitty-chan, and I'll come up.
[ Not that he's.. very good at climbing trees, so it takes him several attempts for him before he actually get up without falling down again. ]
A:

Indeed it has. Are you enjoying this game board?

Do you want food? I don't have anything on me for a cat.
B
Ah geeze, if things were glitchy enough around here, it's affecting the animals too? Just a moment, I'll see if I can get you down!
[And Gumshoe will start to climb the tree to get to the cat. A smarter person may wonder how he expects to get a cat half in a tree out, but Gumshoe is more worried about getting there to help than that specific detail...]

Almost there... Okay... Just a bit more... Right, now let's see. Let me see if I can get you out of there, so try not bite me...
[Gumshoe gets a hold of Bernkastel upper half sticking out of the branch and pulls gently to see if there's any chance he can just slide the cat out of the branch. That doesn't work though, so he lets the cat go.]
Dang, that didn't work... There has to be some way to get you out of this branch...
