event: portal four | the mountain

The fourth portal, as might be expected, can be found atop the hill known as Makeout Point. The other side of the portal isn't altogether that much different from the side you're entering from, save for the thicker trees and somewhat darker lighting.
The other side of the portal is significantly colder than the Mayfield side; frost covers the ground, and although it's not quite freezing, you'll want to bundle up. A glance at the sky reveals what you might have been dreading: glitch holes, in varying size, litter the skyline. The sun is hidden behind a set of thick clouds, creating a melancholy atmosphere.
The landscape around you is relatively flat, and you can't see too far beyond the forest ahead of you. It isn't until you turn around, facing the portal that you entered from, that you see the rising slope of the ground. The mountain rises high, higher than you can see from its base. There's a rough, primitive path heading up its slope, and for now simply hiking will be sufficient. As you get further, however, simply walking won't be enough: you're going to have to climb...
Somewhere, closer than you might prefer, a single wolf howls, and is shortly joined by more.
Better get moving.
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
The mountain shivers ominously, before it suddenly erupts in a volcanic explosion of lava and rock. Better get off the mountain and back to the portal at once!
Everyone tag your (attempted) escape under here.]

[Corran starts sprinting back down the path and fervently hopes that anyone else isn't falling over. Because if they are, he'll be stopping to help them up.]

Howe could you be so--
[Hawke's quip is cut short as the mountain shivers and rumbles - definitely not a good sound. She stops dead in her tracks, holding up one hand to let the others know to do the same, and stares up just in time to catch the eruption.
Well shit.]
Looks like we have a lot more to worry about than wolves and puns. [Despite the smart remark, her voice is slightly panicked.] In fact, I think it's about time we headed back to town. Run!

[Shit, indeed.]
[He turns, right as she starts speaking again, reaching for her hand as he does so. Hawke likes danger. Therefore, it makes sense to haul her along with him. Not that he thinks she's crazy enough to stick around for an eruption, but still.]
Nathaniel, move!

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
[A small blue otter will emerge from a red and white ball and start spitting water at the lava and rock in an attempt to slow it down for escaping.]

This is so cool!
[Gen'll look behind him from the safety of Beast Boy's pteradactyl form. Well...safety being relative.]
And...kinda scary. Let's go faster, huh?

What the-!? Why the hell did that-?
[He hauls himself to his feet, narrowly avoiding some of the rubble flying through the air, and takes off running beside her.]

Everyone move out, and keep cloth over your face!
[ OOC: Eek, quick question! Should we still backtag our threads or are they considered interrupted? ]

As soon as he's got Natalie's hand, Hajime pulls her closer. Easier to fly that way.]
Just hang on. I've got you.
[And fly he does. He's booking it at Dragonfly Undead's top speed down that mountain. It's much faster than running, at least.]

Re: EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
And he'd gotten quite a bit up the mountain too. At least he hasn't climbed very far, since he's not used to that. He starts climbing down as fast as he can, but now that he's starting to panic, it feels like it's even further down than it was before! ]

Lava. Titans. Slade.
Rock and earth.
It was just like before. Exactly just like before. A scream tore from her lungs as she turns and runs as fast as she could, the fear flooding her system with adrenaline. She needs to get away, before the rock covers her and the earth claims her yet again.]
