2nd Cameo: That Period when you grind before the big fight

Alright, this is pretty much the part of the storyline when things are chill, but shit can go wrong at anytime. You don't need RPG experience to know that the best thing to do is group up with other people so you don't die in a horrible fire or some shit like that, so I'm doing all of you a favor and offering my services.

The name's Asagi, wandering protagonist and gunslinger extraordinaire. I've got looks, 1500 levels and enough bullets to tenderize the fuck out of whatever gets in the way. I don't have enough of my things to blow up the entire town, but believe me when I say I provide the best fucking support fire you're never seen before with my pistols alone.

Since Mayfield doesn't use a turn-based system, a traditional party should have a tank to absorb damage and hold threat, DPS attackers to dish out the damage without getting too much attention, and healers to make sure everyone stays alive and provides rezzes when necessary. I've calculated my stats and I can manage an easy 50K DPS without even trying, so keep that in mind when you're looking for someone to put a few holes in enemies before they put too many holes in you.

...all it means is putting together a party based on the roles everyone play. Shit's going to go down and I'm the slightly squishy girl who can't take much damage and is better off fighting from a distance. Melee attackers, magic users and other kinds of classes need to team up based on what they can do.

I know, right? And that's what I can manage without using any special attacks or skills.

Damn right it will! Skills have better damage multipliers than basic attacks. Once I get some level 200 equipment, it'll fucking skyrocket.

It means Damage Per Second. And I don't know if anyone in town has one, but a tank is the term people use to describe fighters trained to hold aggro and and take a fuckton of damage...haven't you played an MMO before?

Oh for fuck's sake, has no one played an RPG? It doesn't take video game experience to understand that you should put groups together based on their abilities.

I have no idea what an RPG even is, so no, but you're on to something with that. The problem is that with this number of people, it's hard to organize teams unless someone's going to be in charge and actually have everyone listen. This is why groups need leaders, kid. And best intentions aren't going to do much for that.

Well that's part of what this is all about. Putting together groups and finding leaders for them. Main characters tend to be better leaders, but sometimes people prefer the tanks being leaders since they have to charge in first, anyway.

Well, okay, that's one way to look at it. But if you're gonna think of Mayfield as a game, you should know that it's buggy as hell and crashes at the worst times. And the autosave feature's been glitchy lately, too!

There won't be much to worry about even then. We might not be able to plan things like you can with a raid group, but we can plan things like a squad-based FPS. Either way you look at it, you'll need someone in front, someone to heal, someone for cover fire, all that jazz.

I guess that would work. But Mayfield seems more like survival horror a lot of the times when something bad happens and that's really different a lot of the time.

It's a figure of speech. As in I can shoot the fuck out of anything that needs to get shot. I don't know any defense lowering abilities, but I'm not a character for buffing and debuffing; I provide damage while trying not to take any myself.
