[ His face is pale and he may have broken into a cold sweat as he slams the phone down-sitting back on the chair he had to climb up on and just stares at the phone. There's a million thoughts running through his head. ]

[ This can't happen. He had to be mistaken... right? It was just... someone with a similar voice... but no. He can't take that chance. He needs to know beyond a doubt if that was really Gin on the other line. ]

[ Conan is crouched down low on the porch and just watching the passersby. He's mostly concealed but you can probably see his red shoes and back of his blue blazer. ]

[Well, that certainly isn't a healthy look on the kid. As if he hadn't had enough troubles lately (not that Maladict was worried about him or anything, no that would be crazy talk) Still...]

Bad news?

[ Conan doesn't hear her at first. He can't hear anything but a strange buzzing in his ears and pounding of his heart. He only vaguely notices the cold sweat running down his face as he takes several shaky breaths. His mind is running in circles as it really is impossible for him to think clearly like this. ]

[She reaches over to carefully put a hand on his shoulder]

Conan? Kiddo? What's going on?

[ He jolts horribly and twists to look up at her, relaxing visibly when sees its only Maladdict. ]

Just... um... some bad news.

[She's not doing well in covering up her concerned look]

...More of it? What are we dealing with now?

I-it's nothing for you to worry about. Just something from back home.

[ It's not like he can tell her, doing that would put her in more danger than she's already in. ]

I think if we're living under the same roof and it has you looking that nervous, it's something I should most certainly be worried about. Spill.

Ah-no. I-I'm fine. It's-it's probably nothing. I can't even be sure that it's the same person s-so...

[ He won't drag anyone else down with him. Besides, there's not sense in panicking before he even knows for sure that was Gin or not. ...Even if he has a nasty feeling that it is. ]

[She folds her arms]

Doesn't hurt to be cautious, and I'd like to know if there's a threat to my family. [Because she will legitimately rip the head off anyone who tried to hurt them

It-it's nothing like that... just.. someone from-uh-a previous case. He probably wouldn't recognize me.

[ At least... he hopes. ]

'Probably' is still a risk. You can't be too careful, especially here.

It's okay. I'll just hang around the house for a while until I can get more information.

...Okay. But if it gets dangerous can you please let me in on it? This once?

Ah... sure.

[ He won't really. There's no way he'd risk dragging her into his own issues from back home. She's not involved in this and less she knows about the situation the better. Really... the less anyone here knows the better. ]

[ All he can so is offer a slightly nervous smile before immediately slipping back into his own thoughts. ]

[ meanwhile he'll move over to stare out the window and not move for a long while. ]
