(It's already been three months since Twi and Patchy became student and teacher. Isn't that something else? The time certainly goes by...

...but after three months of studying everything from those grimoires, the unicorn finally decided to test them out. The park was always a good place to test out powers; this time was no different. After giving the books one more look through, she closes them up and returns them to her bag, giving her teacher a confident nod.)

(After several practice runs, Twilight needed to stop and take a breather. Unicorn magic was physically exhausting and magic from Gensokyo was definitely no joke. In any case, she and Patchy are here, discussing a few things and pretty much not blowing up anything else. It's safe to approach this time!)

[Applejack is just wandering by when she sees Twilight hanging out in the park with someone. She trots over with a smile.]

Howdy Twilight! Whatcha up to, and whose your friend?

Hello Applejack! I've been practicing the new magic Patchouli has been teaching me for the past few months now. It's completely different from the kind we had back in Equestria...

Applejack, I'd like you to meet Patchouli, my magical teacher from Gensokyo! Patchouli, this is Applejack, one of my best friends from Ponyville.

-Being introduced like that somehow took pressure off of the situation, allowing Patchouli to feel just a tad more comfortable with the sudden and new social interaction.-

[Applejack turns to the girl with a big small and offers a hoof to shake.]

It's a pleasure to meetcha! So you've been teaching Twilight some new things? Bet she's been having a blast getting to study something again...

She is an exceptional student. I just hope that I've been a good teacher. I've never really taken an apprentice before now.

You've been a great teacher! I wouldn't have been able to learn all of these great things without your guidance.

Heh, well Twilight here always seems to be good with magic. Did she tell ya about the time she took care of a Ursa Minor? That was sure some fancy display of magic, let me tell ya.

[It's not bragging if others are talking about it!]

Usra... minor? A small bear?

(Noooooo Applejack, why must you bring that up? You're getting Twilight all sheepish and stuff...)

Ursa Minors differ greatly from standard bears. Their coats are akin to the night sky and they're much larger in size. The Ursa Minor in question was roughly the size of a house. The reason they're called Minors is because despite their size, they're babies; when grown up into Ursa Majors, they're...well, let's just say they much bigger than one house.

B-but it really wasn't that incredible! All I did was return it to its mother...

(Too much modesty again. So much modesty right here, it hurts.)

[Applejack isn't letting Twilight get away just that! She throws a leg around her and ruffles her mane playfully.]

Aw, don't let her modesty fool ya. It was pretty angry and wrecking all of Ponyville and she calmed it down all by herself! Doubt any other unicorn could have pulled all of that off alone like that!

[Applejack is sure proud of her friends!]

I hadn't realized she was so accomplished already.

(Well now you've done it; Twilight can't hold back a blush anymore. It was a bit embarrassing to get this much praise, but she was still glad to know that her friends could be proud of her.)

Well...okay, so it was kind of a big problem. I'm just glad it was resolved before any serious damage was done.

Yep, only a few damaged roofs. Oh, and a crushed show wagon.

But Twilight said you're teaching her something different, right?

I'm teaching her my elemental magic.

[magicalrealist]

This kind of magic is different from almost anything we have back in Equestria, combining fire, water, wood, earth and metal along with the sun and the moon. It's much more difficult, but the payoff is most definitely worth it!

Oh those kinds of elements!

...For a moment Ah was wondering if you meant like the Elements of Harmony.

But that sounds pretty great alright! And definitely something up your alley, Twilight.

Harmony is a common theme between both. On their own, the elements are versatile enough.

However, it is the combinations thereof that truly make them remarkable. With just those seven elements, you can think of a spell for virtually anything.

Exactly! I think that's why studying these elements isn't completely as difficult as I thought it would be.

But I still have a long way to go before really being able to say things like that. I need to improve my skills with the five elements before I can comfortably move on to sun and moon magic...but thanks, Applejack.

Huh, sounds pretty complicated but really important too. And if there's anyone who could handle sun and moon magic, Ah'd imagine it'd be you Twilight, what with having been a pupil of Princess Celestia and all!

Still, kinda neat how, not counting the sun and moon, there's five elements that help provide harmony in your magic there, Patchouli. If'n you said there was six, Ah'd almost wonder if they were exactly like the Elements of Harmony where we're from, just with different names.

I doubt your Elements of Harmony are so neutral as these.

Maybe not, but it does bring up a very interesting idea: what if somepony were to use only one of the six Elements of Harmony? Would it enhance their represented trait? It'd be convenient if that were true since it could bolster my magic, but what would that do for you and the others?

That's an interesting question, Twilight. Ah'm kinda curious how exactly it would work as well. Ah mean, Ah don't really know how Ah could be more honest, truth to be told... Maybe Ah could use it to find the truth from others?
