[Mindy got up early on Mother's day, and her not!family will find somewhat lumpy and slightly overdone pancakes on the table. And there is a handmade card sitting by Fate's plate. It heavily leans on glitter and the color pink to deliver Mindy's mother's day wishes. It's the thought that counts? She sure seems excited.]

[Mindy has been in Mayfield long enough to know that today is the day when she can convince way more people to pay attention to her for some reason. So she might as well take advantage of it.]

[See, the funny thing about Fate... the day Vivio celebrates her other mama? Father's Day. This was usually a day for Nanoha, so when she comes downstairs and spots the food and the card, she... really looks surprised.]

[She goes from looking surprised to looking... well. Touched. Really touched. She doesn't care about the mess; all that matters is the wonderful gesture. So before she sits to eat, she walks over to Mindy, and pulls the girl into a hug.]

[Yay, hugs~! She hugs back tightly, and then whispers softly.]

It's 'cause you've been a real good Mom. And..... I'm glad 'cause I know a lot of kids get moms that are mean or scary or yell a lot. I'm real lucky that you're my mom.

[Fate actually blushes at that.]

Hearing that you're so happy... that's all I really want, so that makes me happy as well.

[It's true. She expects no personal gain when working with children; seeing their happy smiles is reward enough.]

Did you try the pancakes? I worked real hard on them~ I bet they're good.

[Oh, right! Fate takes her place at the table, cuts up a few pieces, and pops one into her mouth.

... Honestly, even if it was horrible, Fate would never have the heart to say so. She couldn't speak up after her daughter made cookies baked with caviar, after all. So these are actually pretty tasty in her eyes!]

Aah, they are! You did a great job on these, Mindy!

[She's not really lying. They're good! Other people might not think so, but the effort is what counts to Fate.]

[But when she pulls away, she looks slightly hesitant. She's been thinking about this for a while, and now seems like a good time to ask.]

[Fate doesn't even hesitate when she says this. While this may not be her family from back home, this is still the precious family that she's a part of for now. And even if things were a little strange, that wasn't going to stop her.
