[Action, 508 Ricardo Street]
[On Friday morning there's a thump from one of the bedrooms upstairs. That would be the sound of Iris waking up in a strange place and immediately trying to phase through the floor to get out. Of course, without her powers that didn't work out very well for her and she ended up going splat on the floor instead. When that plan didn't work out for her she decided it might be a good idea to leave this room. If she can leave, that is. To her surprise the door opens and she peeks outside. The hallway is clear, or seems clear, so she creeps farther out of the room to look around]

This looks like a normal house. [This for some reason tells her that it's time to push herself flat against the wall in an attempt to be stealthy. It's not a very good attempt] And there's nobody out here. This is the worst kidnapping ever. How come I can't use my powers though?

[Action, All over town]
[After being informed that she isn't being held hostage and can actually leave the house she was in, Iris does just that. She's out and about in Mayfield, running around the town and looking at things. Occasionally, she'll stop someone on the street, poke them or tug their sleeve to get their attention. In fact, there might be a ten year old trying to get your attention right now. She's not supposed to talk to strangers but this is an emergency. Dad would understand in this case, right?]

Um, excuse me? Is there a way to leave?

[Action, Park]
[Iris is in the park now, seated on top of the jungle gym with her eyes closed. She seems to be focusing really hard on something and if you get closer you can probably hear her muttering to herself]

Come oooooon, work. Woooooork. [She's determined to phase through the jungle gym, to get her powers to work, no matter how many people have told her it isn't happening. If anything's going to start working, she's convinced it'll be phasing. It's the power she's had the longest, after all. After a moment she seems to give up and sighs, opening her eyes and folding her arms over her chest]

This place is stupid. Everything looks the same, everyone is weird and I can't even do cool things anymore.

I'm Iris. I just woke up here today. Is this whole place as weird as the houses and the people?

I'm Hajime. It's nice to meet you. It... kinda is. A lot of the regular people are really nice though!

Some of the people here aren't regular people? Are they like, robots or something? They seem like robots.

The drones, they're... kinda like robots. They sure act like it, anyway. I don't know what they really are other than creppy.

There are some in the house I woke up in. They're really weird. I think I'd like them better if they were robots.

Yeah... my house has been full of them a couple times. I try not to be home too much when that happens.

Everyone in your house? There were no normal people? That would be really creepy. At least I have Bart in mine. He's different than he's supposed to be but he's not a creepy robot!

Why are some people like that, though? Do you know?

Some of them... used to be regular people. Maybe all of them, I don't know. Sometimes people just... go away, here.

What do you mean not like he's supposed to be?

So sometimes people just...turn into one of those weird people? For no reason?

He's supposed to be older. And taller. But now he's closer to my age and he's not that much taller than me.

Yeah, it's creepy.

Time can be weird here. I've heard about other people being all the wrong age too.

I think he's from the past. It's really weird. That happens at home too but I've never met Bart from the past before now. But he's here. At least I'm not all alone.

It really helps to have friends here!

Bart's cool. I mean, he's less cool here because he's short but he's still cool.

I didn't have a lot of friends at home. Mostly just Jai. And Lian. I like Lian. [Her childhood has been really weird]

I have a lot more friends who are actually my age here than I do at home. There aren't a lot of regular kids at the elementary school, but everyone's pretty great!

There are other kids here? Really? [Oh wow. She hasn't really spent time around kids who weren't Jai or Lian]

Yep. They're pretty easy to spot, they're the ones that don't say "gee willikers" all the time. There's a lot more regular people at the high school.

So not the little robots. [Drones are forever robots now] Wait, do I have to go to school here? Like regular school?

At least once every three days, just like going back to the house you're supposed to live in. Miss Aurora is the nicest teacher.

[She wrinkles her nose at that] I've never been to normal school. My mom and dad always taught me everything I needed to know.

Kei and Goh did the same thing for me. It's not so bad though. At least if you can avoid the classes with drones for teachers.

What classes are those?

A lot, but no one really cares if you just wander around until you find a class with a real person teaching
