[ Now here’s a Kid who doesn’t have a care in the world. And why should he? It’s just another perfect day in good ol’ Mayfield. There’s nothing to worry about here. Nothing at all. And his smile shows just how swell everything really is.
In fact, he’s taking a stroll through town, twirling a bat in his hand. Seems like he’s trying to find someone who might want to take advantage of such a great day like today! ]
Afternoon! Up to a game of ball?

[ And then here’s a Kid who can’t be bothered to slow down. And why should he? There was someone out there, following him. Every move he made, every step he took, they were there, watching. Their presence continually lingered in the back of his mind, putting him more and more into an anxious state.
He has to get away. Somehow, someway, he just has to. Baseball bat in hand, his pace quickens as he walks around town, only stopping to look over his shoulder with a hand rubbing his neck. Kid’s more than ready to confront any that try to sneak up on him, should it come to that. ]

I know you're out there.
[ It's hard to tell whether he's referring to Peter or someone else entirely. ]
no subject
I think you should look into contacts, kid. Or get a dog.
no subject
You. You've been following me.
[ His words falter just a bit at the end, as if he's unsure that this was really the culprit. That feeling of being watched by unseen eyes was still there. ]
no subject
...Yeah, okay, I was following you. Sue me, kid, I'm just trying to keep an eye on things here, look out for trouble. Job comes with the costume. Along with the occasional wedgie.
[Peter crosses his arms, still standing sideways, eyeing him. Suddenly he realizes he should probably get a burger or something, he's pretty hungry. He's been patrolling a while now.]
no subject
Sorry. I just... there's someone watching me.
[ He lets out a sigh. That sounded a lot less crazy in his head. ]
Did you see anyone else 'round here, then?
no subject
[Alone. Scared. Weak.
...
...
Uh...what was that.]
no subject
But then he turns back to Spidey, quirking up an eyebrow. ] You okay?
no subject
Confused. Paranoid. WEAK.]
no subject
... Did ya not hear me?
[ As tense as he already was, it's best he play it safe first. ]
no subject
no subject
—what're ya doing?
[ He's not going to strike yet though. Not until he's sure. ]
no subject
He clenches his fists and hunkers down into a ready position.]
Simple, Kid. I'm FEEDING! On you. [Another lunge.] Thanks in ADVANCE!!
no subject
Kid gets a bit too caught up on the answer, not letting himself enough time to dodge again. He puts up his bat as a block between himself and the other, trying vigorously to push him off. ]

So it's no surprise he puts his head down, shielding his face from any oncoming attacks, before charging himself at Peter for a full on headbutt. ]
no subject
B!
When she sees the strange boy go by, looking so anxious, she's curious and a little concerned - it's her default, with kids that look so troubled. So when he rounds a corner she gives her wheelchair a little telekinetic push to catch up, at least see if he's feeling all right-
Only to nearly end up with both of them tripping over each other as she rounds the corner abruptly. Oh, dear, she hadn't realized he would stop short there. She rights herself a little and backs the wheelchair up, laughing. ]
I'm sorry, darling! That was a bit startling, wasn't it?
no subject
Y—yeah. I’m fine, though.
[ He can’t help but look at her wheelchair, a slight look of worry coming across his face. ]
Are you?
no subject
[ Ruefully Milla looks down to the pants Psii helped her struggle into this morning, the way they hang loose and limp below her knees, where her legs end in bandaged stumps now. ]
I'm fine, sweetie. I just had a bit of an accident a little while back! But you didn't hurt me or anything, so please don't worry about that. So where are you headed, that you're hurrying along so quickly?
no subject
[ He looks back up at her, slightly taken aback by her motherly tone. It's oddly comforting, in a nostalgic kind of way. ]
I don't know. Somewhere they can't see me.
[ Kid kind of feels awkward saying that, but he shakes it off, his eyes going back to her legs. ]
... Did it happen in that factory?
no subject
No, this was something different. So is there something you want to do that you don't want anyone seeing, then, baby?
no subject
[ He looks down, trying to process his feelings into reasonable words. But even then it might still sound like a stretch. ]
No. Nothin' like that. Just a hunch that someone's watchin' me. It's unnerving, 's all.
no subject
[ She reaches out, gently touching his hand. ]
But- it's no good to let that feeling rule you and ruin your day. Why don't we try to take your mind off it, hm? Would you mind helping a lady around town? I certainly wouldn't complain about having company. Maybe we'll even find somewhere that they aren't watching. It's easier not to feel so uneasy if you're not all alone, right?
no subject
... Sure, Miss. [ The Kid gives a quiet laugh. He's really trying to push that one thought out of his head now. ] Where to?
no subject
[ She grins up at him, seemingly relaxed and carefree. ]
By the way, darling, I'm Milla. What's your name?
no subject
[ His manages to turn his smile to a full on grin. Though a bit apprehensive at first, he sets down his bat on the sidewalk as goes behind the wheelchair to help push her along. Having it on him made him more nervous, so leaving it seems like a good option for now. ]
Kid. Just call me Kid.
no subject
[ She smiles back, warm and genuine, and gratefully accepts his help with the wheelchair - she's in good shape, but this kind of exertion really wears out the arms after a while. ]
So where do you like to go when you've got nothing to do? I haven't really gotten to know much of the town so far, I've spent most of my time here in the hospital and that gets incredibly boring.
no subject
[ He slows down a tad, looking around to find an answer to her question. ]
I don't know. Haven't been 'round long, either. [ He picks up his pace again. ] We could always start off at the park, I suppose.
no subject
[ Aaand off they trundle, Milla letting the Kid guide her since she doesn't know her way that well. ]
no subject
... Awful peaceful here, ain't it? Reminds me of a place back home.
no subject
[ She turns her face up into the sunlight, smiling gently. ]
What was it like, back where you lived? Compared to here.
[ Better to keep his mind occupied, so he doesn't freak out again. ]
no subject
[ As much as it was home, he didn't spend most of his life taking the City in when he could. As far as he knew, it would always be there if he ever wanted to. It made him feel guilty, thinking about it, which might be a little evident on his face. ]
Happier, I suppose. More relaxed, too. And not everythin' looked the same, like here.
[ He rubs his neck, looking over at Milla. ] How 'bout you?
no subject
But I've always missed having a quiet life. I just wish this place were, you know, quiet. That would be nice.
no subject
It's too bad. This town's got the look for it. Guess nothing's what it seems, huh?
[ He sighs, but just a bit. ]
no subject
But I think everything's really what you make it, darling. Sad things might happen, but there's still happiness to be found if you look for it, too. Who knows? Maybe we can make our own town sometime.
no subject
... I'm just worried 'bout all the other folks here, though. 'Specially now.
