Me? The last time I checked, I wasn't the one sitting pretty in City Hall and calling myself the Mayor. I knew letting a man run this town was a bad idea.
Well, at least one good thing came from your little screw-up. Once Grey revealed himself, it was ridiculously easy tracking what was left of him down and wiping every last trace of him from the system.
[A sigh.] Tell you what, darling, I'm such a sucker for a sob story that I'll help you out just this once - and also because I'd rather not be hanged for your incompetence either. Think. Grey might have been the man behind all this, but who do you think delivered those letters?
Who knows? Even I can't tell what he's thinking. And as deeply entrenched in the system as Grey's ghost was, it wouldn't have been that difficult for him to make the letters appear in the mailboxes himself. But as much as I love a man of mystery, I have no problem throwing him to the wolves to get them off my back.
