Some have probably asked and answered already, but I still have to wonder just why so many of our former fellow captives have returned. It's disconcerting.

Things have been quiet. Very quiet. Too quiet. I know I'm not alone in this sense of dread. This town always offers up its worse at times like this. I know it. And as bad as things have been lately...

I've been jumping at every little thing. I just want it to get it over with at this point. I'm tired of being afraid.

Maybe it's one big last ditch effort for them?

An effort at what? Stabilizing a doomed world?

Well, yeah. I mean, maybe this is all that they have? When you've got something that's precious to you, you'll try anything to save it, right? I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to turn all of us into batteries. That is, if we aren't already.

I, for one, am not prepared to die for their sake.

I doubt very many people are. But what can we do? I've heard some people have nifty tricks up their sleeves, but have they really been any help yet? It's looking pretty hopeless. So much for my summer vacation.

And yet here we are... waiting to die...

You know, I wonder about that. Like, if any of this is even real. Everything sounds so farfetched that it's just as likely we're all actually drugged up in some lab and experiencing the same crazy nightmare.

It's hard to imagine which possibility is crueler.

I can see how it can be that way for some people. But for others, I'm sure it's actually a half-way welcoming prospect.

Is their reality truly that much worse? I'd take death over this, personally.

Personally, I'd rather let the world go to hell than die. Guess that makes me selfish.
