He puts on his bathrobe and slippers and heads downstairs to pick up the newspaper off the front porch before starting on breakfast, and-- wait.

[Bummed out about apparently misplacing three weeks somewhere, including the most important day of the year, America has helped himself to a very large ice cream sundae and is eating it all by himself.]

Phew... [America leans back with a deep sigh and pats his stomach gingerly. He still forgets that his human body isn't quite as indestructible as his usual one (and he'd already eaten about half the sundae. He lets out a huge belh and grins sheepishly over at Kay.]

It's okay. The last time I was here was about a year ago, so you're not the first person who doesn't remember me.

[She smiles, putting her hand out for a shake.]

My name's Kay Faraday! I'm one of your citizens.

Yeah, same! So, we never got to talk a whole lot the last time you were here. Since you're the whole country, do you have favorite sports teams or anything like that, or do you just like all of them because they're all Americans?

[He leans over the table and adds in a conspiratorial whisper--]

But between you an' me, I'm a big fan of the Yanks.

[Kay grumbles a little at that, but it's good-natured enough.]

Haha, why am I not surprised? I'm a Dodgers fan, actually.

What about the Red Sox? There's this guy named Scout in town who's a big Sox fan. I like to give him a hard time about it sometimes.

Y'can't help but love the Sox, poor bastards.

He's a few decades behind, though - y'know, from when they were doing really well.

I think he's from the 60s.

It's the 50s when I'm from.

So I guess Mayfield probably looks pretty familiar, huh?

You're lucky! I'm from 2019, so this is all pretty old-fashioned for me. It took a lot of getting used to.
