[Bazett had never witnessed a droning before. At least, not the instance of it occuring. It seems almost surreal. One moment he was Sazh, and the next, he was...not.]

[The man had been a housemate, and in a way, a friend and parental figure. However, the sheer shock of the event had dulled the rest of her emotions. Instead, she has calmly searched for his belongings, found them gone, and drawn the conclusion that the droning would likely be a permanent one. Still, she is able to remain calm until she finds the pancakes in the refrigirator and the note he had left for her.]

[It is then that she has to make an effort not to cry. He had cared for her and for JK, even until his last sentient moments. Sadness...anger...guilt over not doing better...it all hits her right in the gut. She sits at the table, staring at the pancakes and the note.]

2. Phone; saturday morning

[She should have used filters. Under any other conditions she would have used filters, but right now, she is a little too emotional to use them.]

Tohsaka?

[The girl had been here the longest, and would be the one with the best advice, right?]

Lancer? Hayate? Firo? Tony? We need to talk. Can you...talk to me?

[She does not realize how hard her voice is shaking.]

Or...let me go to your house. It's...awkward at mine.

3. Action; all over Mayfield; All of Sunday

[Bazett decides that it is too awkward for now to live with the drone. Therefore. she will just stay outside the entire day. She does not care where she wanders to, as long as it is far away from drone Sazh.]

I...I mainly need to ask you something.

Sure. [Hands her a warm cup of cocoa.]

[She makes no motion to drink it.]

...How do you adjust to someone you have come to know being permanently droned?

[She starts feeling guilty about this when she realizes that Hayate was living in a house with drone Vita. It must be even more painful than Bazett's situation.]

I never forget their smile.

[Sitting down and curling her hands around a cup, she explained.] When you start treating someone like they weren't themselves, then you lose something precious to yourself. Memories and smiles alike. Without them, you may as well just not bear watching them anymore.

But the more I remember his smile, the more I realize that the drone isn't him. It...doesn't act like him or talk like him.

That's the hard part about it, Baz. To remember everything they are, and everything the drone isn't, well, it gives you something to hope that they're making that smile somewhere else y'know?

Do you think...their minds really go home during these periods?

I do believe so. And even then, I can't see myself treating the drones any cruelly.

[She says nothing, but gives a small nod and sips at her drink.]

Don't worry, I'm sure everything'll be fine.

I...do not know. I know this sounds strange, but even though there was nothing I could have done, I still...feel like I failed to protect him. I can't make this guilt go away. No matter what I do.

Nothing'll make the pain go away, Baz. But I'll be there to help ease it.

...Thank you. Forgive me for putting so much pressure on you.

[In Bazett's mind, she should be the strong one, the one who stayed by Hayate and comforted her.]

Not at all. I'm getting by, day by day. I've got a new kid in the house now, a real sweetie too.

A new child? What is her name?

Sasami. She's a little kid, about yay high and with blue hair.

I will keep an eye out for her so I can protect her if needed.
