[Well, Locke got off early from work that day... something he wasn't really planning. Things happen! However, since he had told his new "wife" that he usually came home around seven in the evening... well, the guy didn't want to ruin his words. So he's casually strolling around downtown.

Be careful. If he sees something on you that he likes and the two of you pass on by... there's a chance you might be missing something.]

[He pauses and points to his face.]

[He flashes a smile]

That's great news! Better to be good than bad.

[ Whenever he returns home, Keine will be in the kitchen preparing supper like a good housewife. She's sent the kids to do their homework and wash-up, a bit too well adjusted to this 1950s routine. ]

Welcome home, Locke. Has the day treated you well?

[He was a few minutes late... after all, he wanted to at least give his new "wife" some time to adjust. Though when he stepped inside... she seemed all too accustomed to it already.]

Greetings, Keine. Actually... it's been rather slow. Nothing bad came out of it though, so I can't be complaining.

That's good to hear. A slow day every once and a while keeps us rested for the more busy ones, hmm? [ She turns to grab plates, ready to set the table. ] Your timing could not be more perfect. Supper will be nice and warm. Are you fit to eat?

Yeah, you got that right.

[He put a finger to his chin in thought.]

I must say, you've adapted rather well! Better than I did. ... and oh, right. Of course! I'm always ready for a meal.

I'm a school teacher back home, so the children are certainly no problem... And I'm glad it seems that way. Truth be told, I still consider all of this rather frightening...

[ She's just fairly good at keeping her cool. ]

And that's perfect. I was just about to set the table. Should we call the kids down, or would you prefer to eat separately?

[He thought for a moment, and nodded to here.]

I think we could call the kids down... Even though they'll simply talk about the same thing they have every night... eh... heh.

[A nervous chuckle escaped him.]

[He can't be going and finding anything on her though... that'd just be mean! So have a friendly wave instead!]

Oh, not a whole lot at the moment. Was just... pondering on some... well... window shopping I guess?

... Guys don't window shop, Locke.

Don't tell me, it's not really shopping for windows either... is it?

... Yeah, you're up to something. Spill it.

[There it is! A gentle reassuring pat on the back... and eye contact locked. He was merely testing.]

Just told my new ... "wife" I wouldn't be home for another hour or two. That's all. Gotta kill time somehow!

That excuse isn't making me less suspicious, yanno.

[He couldn't see to get the courage to find something on her... and he withdrew his hand, not certain if his fingers were nimble enough to snag something small.]

No? Well, what can I do to prove it to you?

I'm not gonna press it if you really don't want to spill.

[Nope. He couldn't do it. Just didn't have it in him.]

Well... guess you could say I'm looking. ... For thi- Something. I'll know it when I see it.

Guess so. Can't say, I don't mind the company.

[The pockets of Ted's jacket are crammed full of small spare parts he's smuggling home from work at the garage. He's also carrying a small box full of even more small parts. Some of these parts may or may not be valuable.

He also suspects nothing.]

[It's the fact that he can practically hear small items coming from this fellow... that his entire attention is placed on him. Locke had to figure out how to go about this. Never mind that these might be useless... it's the fact they're practically waiting to be plucked. Ripe for the picking one might say!

He goes out of his way to walk right on past this guy. A slight flick of his wrist and... well okay. He found himself with a gear of some sort.]

[In unrelated news, Ted stops for a moment at a nearby bench to rearrange some of the items in the box. One of the items in question is a small motor that looks really quite nice, if you have some sort of a use for small motors. It's probably the best thing in the box.

Ted has totally failed to notice that gear that's gone missing. Locke was just a regular old fellow pedestrian, right?]

[If only Edgar was around... then again. Maybe he could start a collection... just in case. Pocketing the small gear, he made his way over to the guy. Had to try the outright friendly approach.]

Hey there! Can't say I've seen you before.

[Ted was so focused on his doohickeys, thingamabobs, and tiny motor that he jumps slightly.]

Oh! Hey. I haven't been here long. Just a few weeks.

[Wow, this guy is friendly.]

Oh yeah? Guess this place takes a while to get used to-- I didn't mean to startle you...!

[He chuckles softly and holds up his hands in defense.]

[Ted gives a sheepish grin.]

Ah, no, that was totally my fault, sorry. Just a little lost in thought.

[And he's positively beaming at the box of parts.]

I am going to build so many cool things with this stuff, I was just thinking of ideas.

Build, you say?

[That didn't get his attention at all.]

Like what?

[Ted shrugs as he roots through the box.]

I'm not really sure yet. So far, the best thing I've managed to build here has been a remote control setup for the TV...

[He's examining parts as he talks.]

Really, with this stuff, you can't build anything too big. I'll probably just work up a few scale models for larger products. Make sure they work at the small size before starting in on the big stuff.
