5th Smile

[Action A: Maybe you work at the used car lot, or maybe you're just passing by. Either way, something is very noticeable about it: it's empty. Or rather, there's one car left, and standing in front of it is a drone couple, and a blonde man with a name tag - obviously an employee. The men shake hands and then the smiling couple get in the car and drive off in their beautiful new 195X Nash Rambler. The employee waves them off, a huge grin on his face.]

Enjoy! That car is guaranteed to put a smile on your face for a long time!

[Seems like the Smile Junkie speaks the drones' language. Elmer has managed to sell every car in the damned lot. He looks at the empty lot, satisfied. Of course, Mayfield will restock it in a day or so, but he doesn't know that.]

Okay then, I guess I'm done for the day.

[Action B: Time to share the wealth. Elmer walks into the diner and announces to everyone:]

Oi! Lunch is on me! Order whatever you like, I've got it covered. So smile, okay?

If you've got lunch, come by the tavern sometime and I'll treat you to a free drink as thanks.

[Snow's chilling at one of the booths on his lunch break, and he can't help but break into a wide grin.]

Hey, thanks, pal. That's pretty generous of you.

[He's not going to smile at the offer... nor is he going to take it. In fact, he's going to simply stand and head out the door.]

[And then one of Elmer's coworkers wanders over]

I'm impressed.

You can get whatever you want! That should make you happy, right?

Sounds great to me! I haven't been by the pub, yet. I need to stop in.

Not a problem! Roof over our heads, food on the table, car in the garage... What else am I supposed to do with this money?

[Elmer blinks at him, confused, as Hol tries to leave.] C'mon, mate, how can you turn down free food?

[Elmer grins widely.] That was way too easy. Bet I could sell a car to everyone in town!

For the simple fact I paid fer th' meal before ya even got here.

[He's going to go back to leaving.]

[Pinkie's passing by the used car lot, and hey, why's it so empty? There are usually more cars there! She's looking at the lot curiously and then she sees Elmer. She seems pleased to see him.]

Oh, hi there! Where did all the cars go?

[Because the empty lot looks like great party space...]

Treat yourself to some lemonade, maybe? [He laughs.] There's a stand just outside my house.

I just wish I could talk them into a racing stripe.

[Joe Gibken had been sitting in the diner, glancing at the selections. He looks up from the thing with a shrug.]

Oi. I'll have a burger and a coke.

[He'll nod at the man who bought his food, but not smile. No, smiling is not for stoic space pirates.]

It's nice of you to pay for it.

[Now he kind of wishes he'd ordered more, as he'd ordered before the other got here, but such is life. It would be rude to order more.]
