[Action: Around town.]

[Mirai's run out of drone clothes to destroy and re-use as pieces for her growing clothes and teddy bear collection, so that leaves her one option: getting a source of income. The solution? A job, of course!

She's wandering around town with a few job applications in her hand, muttering to herself in an annoyed tone.]

This is so stupid! How can it be this annoying to find a job?

[Action: John Doe Park]

[Later in the evening, around sunset, Mirai has snuck into the park to test out her latest regain. She's not very well-hidden, and anyone wandering nearby might see a bright flash of light, and a girl in a pink, fluffy dress holding a heart-shaped wand behind some bushes.]

It worked! Hah, I knew I would get it back sooner or later! This town can't keep my things away from me for long.

[How smug. Despite that, though, she seems genuinely pleased.]

[ He sit down on the ground. ]

That's good for you. What sort of magic is it?

[ Aw she don't need to groan. ]

[She sits down, too, mostly just because it's just awkward to stand when nobody else is. She ignores the temper comment and goes straight to the magic part.]

The kind you kill monsters and protect yourself with.

[Killing monsters with a heart-shaped wand? Sounds legit.]

Hmm...

I used my powers to punish evils that couldn't be punished by the law. Those evils are the only kind of monsters there is in my world.

[ There are oddities and weird ways of using powers back in his world, so the heart-shaped wand don't bother him. Besides, he's seen shiny magical girl-hero anime because of some of his friends back home. ]

So, you punished people, right? The ones who nobody could touch?

[She kind of gets that, and on an instinctual, comrade-type level, she approves.]

We fight the monsters that cause people to kills themselves and other people. We get one wish and magic as part of the deal.

Yeah, that's about it. It's been a bit messy from time to time over the years, though.

[ He listens, and nods. ]

Made people to kill themselves by controlling them? Or mentally?

[burdenbearing]

Yeah. These things called witches--they put a mark on a human, and then the human starts doing things like that. If you can stop them and the witch before they can hurt themselves or anyone else, though, they go back to normal.

[She looks at him, solemn.]

Messing with people like the yakuza or whatever would get messy. Stuff like that is dangerous, Yukihina.

Ah. There will always be people who coax others into suicide one way or the other.

It's more... corrupt cops who kidnap children, stuff like that. I guess I've had my fair share runins with yakuza, but that's not the point behind Code:Breakers.

[burdenbearing]

That's even more dangerous. At least, you can get the cops to hide you from the yakuza. What are you supposed to do against the cops?

[She rolls her eyes, not condescending so much as frustrated with the idea.]

...But I guess that's the point of your "Code:Breakers", right?

[coldiceflower]

We're power users, they're not. We can protect ourselves better than they can. And I've much more fighting experience than any of them.

[ He shrugs. ]

Code:Breakers are none-existant. No one will miss us anyway, since we have no families or anything, really.

But I left the Code:Breakers a long time ago now.

[burdenbearing]

That's... [She knows that feeling, of feeling like you're nothing to the rest of the world. That nobody will miss you when you're gone.]

We're like that, too. Sort of. When we die, there's almost never a body. We just get labeled "missing" forever. Lots of us don't have families, either, or friends to even notice until somebody at school or work realizes we haven't been coming.

But if you left that, what do you do now? Back home.

Do you have kids bred in test tubes, too?

I didn't like the direction Eden went, and joined some others that left it. Our leader was killed, and now I'm helping out a friend. She's a Code:Breaker, but she joined side with some other Breakers hunted by Eden for.. reasons very difficult to explain. So I guess I'm just.. trying to get back my life, or something. [ He shrugs again. ] I go with the flow?

[burdenbearing]

[She looks at him like he's stupid for that comment, mostly to hide the sudden tension her body carries when she hears it. Bred in tubes, no. Kept in tubes, though?]

Of course not! What, is that normal in your world?

[She huffs a bit.]

So, you're just surviving, then? I guess that's not such a bad life. I would have expected more conviction out of somebody who went after people the law couldn't, though.

[ Yeah, he feels that. He's used to are-you-stupid gazes, though. ]

Eden does that.. create more powerful power users. I don't like it, but there is a kid in my world that's one, that I like.

I don't go by convicion anymore. My light's dead, and I'm with my friends. I'm fine, it's enough for me now. [ And a smirk creep its way up on his face. ] And they can be amusing, and fun to be with.

[burdenbearing]

[Ah, this she understands well. She nods enthusiastically.]

Yeah, friends are what's worth fighting for! They're what's really important in life. Without them, life is empty, so it doesn't matter what you have to do to stay with people like that.

[coldiceflower]

[ He'll just give a slight little smile at that. He's always been bad with words. Bad with feelings. But yeah, he like his friends, even though he's lost the one he rsepected the most. ]

[burdenbearing]

[She knows that loss, too, but she'll never admit it. That would mean admitting a whole slew of terrible things they had done afterwards, how many time they'd attempted to play god.

Instead, she'll just grin back, leaning backwards on one hand.]

[ He'll absently pat her on the head. Don't mind it too much, Mirai. ]

Hey, what are you doing?

[She doesn't shrug him off, but she does look at him funny. What a weirdo she ended up with for a fake father.]

[ He glance at her, hand still on top of her head. ]
