[ Vivio has a morning routine; she wakes up early to go for a jog, showers, and then has breakfast. But she's ruined the routine this morning. Instead, Vivio showered and then immediately went into the kitchen. Housemates beware; that burning smell is the result of Vivio trying to make scrambled eggs for breakfast this morning. ]

[ At lunch, Vivio will be busy... reading? Yup, for the first time in a while she isn't spending her lunch break trying to convince people to play soccer with her. Instead, she's flipping through some cook books with a serious ( and troubled ) expression on her face. ]
Mama makes this look so easy... I don't understand, how do you "sift" flour...? I've never heard of that...

[ Even if her latest goal has been to learn to cook decently, Vivio can still be found practicing her martial arts in the park after school. She's using her adult form today, something she hasn't done in a while, so even if you've met her before you might not immediately recognize her. ]

Sift flour? It's easy, but you need the proper tools for it.

There are specific tools for it too? I guess that makes sense... what kind are they?

It's sort of a little shaker that you push the flour through. It's about yay big [she makes a hand width motion] and when you're done it gets it nice and fine.

[vividly]

So it's different from just adding the flour normally? Doesn't it get mixed together anyway?

[tsunmuse]

Traditionally it makes for a lighter cake batter, and make sure that it comes out nice and fluffy instead of more compact together. And it'll rise easier.

So that's how they get those fluffier cakes... wow, you really know a lot!

My grandpa taught me a lot about cooking. And I do all the housework in my house here in Mayfield.

[vividly]

Wow, really? I'm not really that good at housework... Usually, Mama and I split chores.

Yeah. The parents I live with aren't very good at it, so I find myself cooking and cleaning.

Yeah! I'm reading up about baking a cake! [ She shows him the cook book. ]

Oh, neat! I help Koharu and Ms Ukraine sometimes.

Really? Do you like cooking then?

I like helping, anyway! Especially if it's sweets.

[Mindy comes down to investigate.]

Are you making breakfast? Can I help too?

Mindy-chan! Good morning~! [ Vivio grins at Mindy and tries to get her eggs off of the bottom of the frying pan... they've burnt on. ] Y-yeah, trying... I thought I'd surprise Fate-mama this morning! And sure!

Good idea! Her and Mr. Signless are so nice to us, so they deserve a real good breakfast.

[She takes in the state of the eggs. Hmm....]

Do you wanna try pancakes? There's a mix in the cupboard. I think you just have to put water in it.

[vividly]

Do you think pancakes would be better? [ Vivio looks at her fried mess...

Then laughs meekly. ] Because yeah... I don't think the eggs are working out...

Sure! Everybody likes pancakes!

[She walks over to the cupboard, but is a little too short. So she gets a chair to stand on.]

I think the mix is in here somewhere...

Action - Elementary School

Hey, what are you trying to make?

A cake! I hope, anyway... Oh hey, do you know anything about baking, by any chance?

You bet! I bake all the time! By the way, to sift flour, you just have to make sure it's not all lumpy and packed down. If you've got a strainer at home, that works just as well, or you can use a whisk to break up the clumps!

Is it a special occassion?

*Einhard blinks, looking over at Vivio as she stared at the book that she was reading.*

... Are you having trouble with baking something? I thought you were pretty good at it.

Oh! Einhard-chan! [ Vivio closes the book, saving her place with her thumb. ] Well, I was trying to make a cake like what I saw in the store but... I guess I got carried away somewhere... I'm hoping to find out where I went wrong and fix it next time. [ She opens the book again and flips through it. ] For a book from that library it's surprisingly useful.

Oh. I see.

Well, at least there's that. Do you have any idea where you went wrong yet?

[OH THE BURNING. IT'S STUCK IN HER NOSE.

Arf pads into the kitchen with the intent on making the BAD SMELL go away. And then she pauses once inside to paw at her nose,]

Take them off the flame, please.

[vividly]

Huh? Oh!

[ Vivio apologetically turns the oven off and looks down at the mess. Then sighs sadly. ]

Darn... I was hoping to make it like what Nanoha-mama makes... maybe I should have added more milk and less spices... [ She hops off her stool and goes to wash the frying pan. ] S-sorry about that, Arf!

[The wolf shakes her head a bit more, trying to get the smell out of her nose.]

Definitely less spice. More liquid and lower heat also helps keep it from burning.

[ Kyo is doing much of the same, somewhere a bit off from where Vivio is. During one of his breaks, he notices and decides to walk up to her out of curiosity, observing from a fair distance and choosing not to speak if it would interrupt her practice. ]
