[A - 2239 Stevens]

[Hajime wakes up...which is not unusual in and of itself, but he becomes very aware of a few things. This is not the room he's been renting at the Jacaranda, nor are these the clothes he went to sleep in the night before. They're a very outdated style he hasn't really seen before. The room itself is more spacious than the one he's been renting, and it has windows, making it quite unsuitable for the makeshift darkroom he had going back home. Decorating the room are photographs of him and some humans he's never seen before, which confuses him.

Also, there's a woman lying next to him. Hajime sort of stares for a moment. He's now even more confused; he definitely doesn't know who she is and isn't the sort to take up with strange women. He decides the best course of action is to sneak out of the bed and try to figure out what's going on, but, unfortunately, when he starts to pull himself into a seated upright position, one of the mattress springs squeaks very loudly...]

[B - Around Town]

[Hajime is now stalking around town and trying not to look as confused by everything as he feels as he tries to get the lay of the land. He's trying very hard to pretend like he knows what's going on, which mostly means scowling and staring at things. He has now stopped to stare at something in the area, looking thoughtful and a little angry. Despite appearances, maybe he'd be up for a chat?]

I wish. I'll give Dakki-chan a call, see if she's got some laying around.

(Don't worry Hajime; Kreutzer disapproves of the terrible clothing selection, too. Thankfully, one of the flying pieces of clothing is a simple enough dress for her to be alright with. Of course, she's not going to put it on in front of him.)

Perhaps we might. I will search outside, once I find a more...comfortable outfit.

[Guess who's distracted enough and not familiar enough with human etiquette not to realize he probably shouldn't be changing clothes now? This guy, ladies and gentlemen! He's found something that's probably as good as it's going to get, and now he's going to put it on regardless of who's in there.]

I wonder if we're the only ones here.

(Guess who's now walking out the door and into the nearest bathroom? Why Kreutzer, of course! A princess shouldn't have to change in front of others unless they're servants helping her. She returns a few minutes later in this new and unfortunately designed dress.)

With how symmetric the other houses look, I wouldn't be surprised if there were others.

[Hajime is now wearing a trenchcoat indoors. It's covering up the rest of the horrible clothes he's found and is about as close as he can get to what he usually wears.

He opens the bedroom door and is a little surprised to see a perfectly normal house (with even more family photos in the hall!) there before him. He takes a few steps outside.]

Seems safe enough...I suppose.

It looks that way, but I think we both know that appearances aren't everything.

(She's going to step past him as if she were going her own way.)

It would be best for us to go our separate ways to cover more of the town. We should meet back here later...if we still can.

(Though not the best of farewells, Kreutzer isn't expecting to have long-term attachments here. She leaves the house and begins searching the town on her own.)

[He turns to look at her, giving her a polite nod.]

Just trying to figure out what this place even is. I've had a few debates this morning...

It can be pretty confusing at first. Did you try to convince the drones you're not from here?

Ah, so that's what you call them? I gave up on that. Wasn't worth wasting my time with a conversation.

But the woman I woke up with is absolutely convinced this is the afterlife. I seriously doubt it.

Another one of those, eh? I don't think we did, though...if we've met, I was probably something other than a photographer, on your world.

[He walks over and holds out a hand.]

I can tell you with great certainty that it's not.

[He returns the handshake.]

[Tsukasa's name seems quite familiar, where has he heard it before?

...and then something inside Hajime's head clicks. There's a flicker of recognition.]

Decade.

...Chalice? The original one, that is.

[He shakes his head.]

You, Birth, and I are all here. I wonder if we'll see any others, like Kazuma or Kurenai.

I'd love to hear why you're so certain. I've got my own reasons as to why I'm pretty sure I'm alive, but my housemate's pretty convinced everyone here is dead.

[He's so going to go home and throw a bunch of second opinions that agree with him at Kreutzer...]

[ Silly mortal, even Decade wasn't that nuts. ]

Can I be of assistance? [ Booms a deep, deep voice from the augmitters of the armor. ]

[Hajime nods at Tsukasa's recognition.]

I ran into Birth earlier. I have not seen anyone else yet, but I've only been here a few hours.

[He glances around the area.]

Can't say I like it here.

[Hajime is still unfazed at the booming voice coming from the armor, as some part of his brain is still convinced he's a potential world-destroying monster.]

I'm just trying to get my bearings. This place is...unusual.

There's not much too like about this place. I arrived here without my camera, my buckle, or anything.

[He pauses, thinking.]

Wait, are you...?

[His memories flash back to the Joker undead of the AR world, and then to what he does know about this Rider.]

You're human here, aren't you?

I'm without all of my gear, as well.

[Hajime nods when Tsukasa asks if he's human. He's never really happy when his status as the Joker's brought up, but under the circumstances, it's a valid question.]

Fortunately, it would seem. I'm without anything I could use to keep myself in check.

I know it's going to sound crazy if you're new here but... I'm Death.

[Oh, is THAT all? Hajime's definitely giving her a weird look now. Something about the way she said it...]

...why do I get the feeling that's more than just a name?

[Manners, Hajime. Manners. He's got issues with that but isn't out to deliberately antagonize anyone yet...]

My name's Hajime Aikawa, by the way.

I'm an anthropomorphic personification. Some people find it easier to call me Didi.

[Ah, so this place is even stranger than he thought. Wonderful. The strange look continues.]
