event: portal seven | the void

The final portal doesn't seem to be a portal at all. It's a glitch hole.
Located on the lawn of the library is a hole much like the ones that have plagued every new location for the past week. As with them, it hurts your eyes to look at too long, but even if you should muscle past the pain and stare straight into it, you can make out nothing on the other side. Nothing, save for a shifting, twitching, swirling void.
Unlike the portals, which were vertically placed like doorways, the hole at the Library is strewn across the lawn: if you want to enter it, you're going to have to jump. Of course, there's no guarantee it will even lead anywhere. Touching the hole or sticking your arm in doesn't have any effect: you'll pull your arm out unharmed. As far as jumping in completely goes, those who jump in disappear from sight. As long as you're on the Mayfield side, there's no way to tell what lies beyond the hole.
There's only one way to find out.
[ooc: Feel free to roleplay up to the point your characters jump in, assuming they do. A single group subthread will be created in a few hours revealing what happens on the other side.]
Re: WITHIN THE VOID
For a moment Pokey considers just bolting and running, of burstin out of the bubble and desperately fleeing to try and find a way out. Bu somewhere In his mind he knows if he even tries that he will die. He's made a decision. Now, good or bad, he has to see that decision through.
Pokey just stares out at the path for a moment. He tries to will himself to move but it's as of his legs forgot how they worked. As if they'd died on the spot. No matter how hard he tries to tell himself he'll move he just. Can't. Do it.
He closes his eyes and takes a little breath. In. Out. In. Out.
And he thinks about the past two years. Things he'd done. Things he'd seen. People he met. Enemies he made.
The friends he made. People he loves.
And when he opens his eyes again he's moving down the path, both L'il Miss Marshmallow and his robot duplicate following behind him.
He doesn't know where it is but there's an end to this road. He has faith there is. So even if he doesn't know what's going on hell trust the bubble and follow.]

Re: WITHIN THE VOID
[He keeps his eyes on the path, not looking at Shana. But he still smiles a little.]
Y'know. I kinda thought it would come to something like this.

Do you think we'll get out o here alive?

I'll be fine too.
[He doesn't fully believe that. But he's begun to understand the idea of lying to your friends not to cheat them. But to reassure them.]

he spots Pokey and his robot brigade a few feet in front of him.]
Oh. I guess he didn't melt after all.

[Even in the face of disaster the Pokey-bot can't help by praise itself. Pokey meanwhile just rolls his eyes.]
Yeah you're fantastic.
[Pokey thinks a moment and then turns to Once-ler.]
You shouldn't have come in here.

[which in itself is a scary thought to have in a place like this where time has no meaning. he doesn't have to elaborate on what a terrible thought it would be if they were stuck here forever; his solemn expression should say enough.]
no subject
Tell me. How good a chance do you think we have of getting out of here alive?
no subject
[no immediate reply. Once-ler glances off to the side, chewing on his lower lip.]
...A 30% chance, and even that's just wishful thinking. [pause.] I hate wishful thinking, too.
no subject
Wishing is for idiots. I prefer to make things happen.
...But 30% sounds about right.
Most people are here too because they think it's the right thing. ...That bothers me I guess.
no subject
It's either this or watching things go to heck up there. The alternative should bother you more.

You're a geek and a jerk, but you probably don't deserve this place nerdlinger. I uh....I'm sorry you and most people have to be trapped here.

Hey. [He appears at Pokey's side.] What do you think we're looking for?
no subject
[But he can't but smile. You're keeping his mind in the game.]
No clue. It'll probably be one of those "we know it when we see it deals". Like a glowing clown statue or something.
no subject
Watch out for monsters... [It isn't clear whether he means it partially as a joke or not.]
no subject
I'll make sure the monsters don't get you.
[Its stupid and obnoxious but it helps. Pokeys found that humor helps him in situations like this.
And that humor is at its best with you.]

So we can probably scare any other ones away.

Maybe you used to be... Not anymore.

Don't get too close to the edges nerd. Don't want to have tO explain if something goes wrong.
