This... all of this... this has been Mrs. Johnson's work from the beginning. It all makes sense now! Listen, this is still a theory, but I think I understand what's going on now!
Zemekis made a mistake before Christmas. I don't know what it was, but it was a big one and everyone tried to fix it. It's obvious that Mrs. Johnson saw this as a big chance for a power grab. The incident with the resurrection machine? It had to be her that let us know about it. She knew that we would do anything to get home, so she had us try to barge in and destroy it. It made Zemekis look like a bigger fool. And everything involving Grey from around the time of the Carnival to when everyone went into those worlds... that was also Johnson, playing with our hopes! She must have known Annie was here and wanted to draw out Zemekis to finally end him. Once Annie was freed, it was only a matter of time before Zemekis would make himself really known and Mrs. Johnson would make her move. Once that was done, Annie would be no use to her...
We've been played for fools this entire time! I feel like an idiot for not realizing this sooner!

[The entire town's gone mad, everyone's trying to kill everyone else. So far, Eggman hasn't been affected, but he's refusing to hide. Riding on his Egg Walker and flanked by his various Egg Pawns, Egg Robos and the Mecha Sonic, he's ready to meet anyone head on.]
So, it's come down to this... I'll show you what real terror is!
