... I don't know how many friends he made here, but I guess I should inform anyone that might care that... Gremio's gone. All that's left is a drone. No cheek scar, so... it's definitely not him. No sense in questioning it.
... So. I hear a lot of talk about this prom thing. It sounds kind of like some of the formal parties they used to host in Gregminster, though those were mostly for adults of the noble class. Still, that's my experience with them. A lot of glamor and putting on masks... I actually don't have a lot of taste for it. But somehow, I think it'll be different here. Maybe...
Anyways, can anyone tell me more about the concept? I guess Americans would be best qualified, but I'll take any perspective I can get. Personal anecdotes especially. I just want to hear some stories right now... stories of places far and away.

As for personal anecdotes, I could tell you about how I met my friends from Ponyville and helped Princess Celestia and Princess Luna reunite after being apart for a millennium. Would that be alright?

In Equestria, we ponies manually change the seasons and control the weather. We could even raise the sun and the moon, but those abilities were reserved to Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, respectively. Together, they made sure Equestria not only had its equal share of night and day, but that it would prosper.
One day, Princess Luna grew jealous of everypony enjoying the day more than the night and tried to make night permanent for all to enjoy under the form of Nightmare Moon, but she was banished to the moon for 1000 years, leaving Princess Celestia to raise both all the while. I discovered in a book that Nightmare Moon would soon make her return, but when I sent my findings to the Princess, she told me I should concern myself with making friends and put me in charge of organizing an event that was to take place in Ponyville.
(She pauses for a moment to give Tir time to absorb all that. Also to keep from talking his ear off, the poor guy.)

She wasn't worried?
I AM SORRY FOR ALL OF THE TEXT IT'S TWILIGHT'S FAULT
At first, I didn't think she was; she told me I needed to stop worrying so much and sent a carriage to take me to Ponyville. I couldn't give up on the discovery that easily, but I knew she really wanted me to arrange the event, so I had to settle for that option in the meantime.
Once I arrived, I met with my future friends one at a time. Pinkie was the first...sort of. She saw me, gasped in surprise and took off. Great first impression, I know. Then I met Applejack; she was in charge of catering and had me sample everything they were making. And I mean everything.
After that, me and my assistant Spike, a baby dragon, met Rainbow Dash, who was in charge of clearing up the weather and was slacking until we showed up. She's a great flyer and cleared the skies in ten seconds flat! Rarity was in charge of making the costumes and she was doing a great job, but she somehow roped me into trying out the different ones she made...a lot of time was lost because of that.
But eventually we finally found Fluttershy; she and her choir of birds were preparing the music, but she shied up instantly when I spoke to her...big surprise, I know. At least she was able to talk to Spike, but they didn't stop talking and after hearing his entire life story, I had to call it a day.
But when I returned to the home that I was supposed to use, I found every pony in Ponyville waiting inside for the surprise party. Pinkie organized it and while it was very nice, I had to break away to research Nightmare Moon and the incredible power that was used to combat her: the Elements of Harmony.

I had to stay alert since everypony else was distracted with the celebration, but things were running smoothly...at first. Princess Celestia never made her appearance; in her place was none other than Nightmare Moon herself!
She was preparing to make night eternal once again, but she disappeared before anyone could apprehend her. Things were turning sour and after giving the library one more rummage, the girls and I found a book detailing everything about the Elements of Harmony, even where we could find them! They were in a castle in the mysterious and foreboding Everfree Forest.
I was planning to go on my own, but the others came with me even though I voted against that...I'm glad they came along, though. There were a lot of hazards and distractions that got in the way, but we were all able to get through it thanks to their help.
Once we arrived, we finally fount the Elements...and Nightmare Moon already there waiting for us. She tried to take them away, but in doing so, I made sure she wouldn't get far without me! The book said the Elements would activate when triggered with a spark, but when I finally managed to use my magic to do such a thing, the Elements didn't activate! And Nightmare Moon even destroyed them while they were still inactive! It was a turn for the worst...
(Dramatic pause for suspense!)

...And soon enough, the others found where we were and we were all ready to take on Nightmare Moon, without the Elements if we needed to!
But at that exact moment, it all suddenly made sense: the Elements weren't lost; they were with us the entire time, embodied by the six ponies who bravely stood up to the Mare of the Moon herself: Applejack with the Element of Honesty, Fluttershy with the Element of Kindness, Rarity with the Element of Generosity, Pinkie Pie with the Element of Laughter, Rainbow Dash with the Element of Loyalty, all of them were brought together because of me and the sixth element...the element of Magic!
The destroyed elements reformed themselves and granted each of us their power, which we used to purify Nightmare Moon and bring harmony to her tortured soul. And once things settled down, Princess Celestia revealed herself to all of us. She knew that my friends and I were the ones who would be able to wield the Elements of Harmony from now on and guided us together! And with Princess Luna finally back to her senses, she and Princess Celestia agreed to rule Equestria together like they did so long ago.
As for me...well, the princess was so happy to hear that I made so many new friends, she arranged a new home for me in Ponyville, where I could begin my research on the magic of friendship and start a new life in Ponyville with my new friends.
(The end~)

(Well guess who's feeling sheepish.)
...I don't suppose you'd want to hear about the Grand Galloping Gala, would you?

We spent a lot of time preparing for it and discussing what we would do once we finally arrive. With all of the possibilities available, it was going to be the best night ever...or so we thought.

We had everything planned out: Applejack would sell her treats, Rarity would find a prince to be with, Pinkie wanted to party, Fluttershy would go to the garden, Rainbow Dash would hang out with the Wonderbolts and I was going to spend time with Princess Celestia...needless to say, none of those plans worked out as we wanted them to.
By the time the princess and I realized just how wrong things were getting, the main ball room was a mess and animals from the garden were flooding in faster than anyone could deal with them. At the princess' insistence, we made a run for it and got out of there before they could connect the dots and realize what my friends and I did.
But we reconvened at the donut shop and talked about how terrible the night was. Even the princess, who made her entrance after we did, told us she wanted us to come and make a mess of things since she always thought the Gala was terrible. Things didn't go as we planned, but a good group of friends can make any night a good night.
