Blueprints 012: Sometimes you just need a little more crazy

[Engie's been pretty busy lately. He's hardly come out of his garage at all, having been seized with the usual fervor that comes with all madboys when they stumble on an idea.

And boy, does Engie have one now. What started as an innocent walk around town two weeks ago took a turn for crazy when he idled outside the cinema. There was a poster there of a new movie, and it reminded Engie of the craziness of last Halloween...

Lightbulb.]

Action: John Doe Park, All Day

Mayfield, there is something new set up at the park. It's big, it's mechanical, and it shoots fire. It's...a fire-breathing robot dinosaur lizard thing! And there's the Engineer testing out the controls to his latest creation. Being around the size of a car, the robot takes a few jerky steps forward as Engie moves the joystick forward. Grinning, he presses the giant red button in the centre to release a thin jet of flame into the air.

She sounds beautiful Ted. Wish I could see her myself. Did ya build her from scratch?

Yeah, I sure did. Had to do most of it in secret, too, but at least the facilities I had access to were a darn sight better than what we've got to use here. Same for the materials.

Where are ya from, if ya don't mind me askin'? An' why in secret? Nothing wrong with buildin' a machine, so long as ya don't make trouble with it.

Eh, I guess it doesn't matter here. Back home, I'm what you'd call a superhero. I keep my identity a secret, y'know? I wear a mask and everything. Just so my enemies can't find me.

A superhero? Really? Always thought they just existed in the comics...but then again, I've seen stranger things since I've been here. I actually know someone who wears a mask back home when she works. She ain't a superhero or anythin', but she couldn't let people know she was a girl.

Yeah, I'm the Blue Beetle.

...and really, it sounds like your friend might've been trying to get around some of the restrictions they've got on women here. I know of quite a few that'd be getting themselves masks if they were here and wanted to buy a gun badly enough.
