Hm. I disagree. With the proper narrator, a story can be as beautifully pictured as a sculpture or a painting. The right words, the proper tone, the suitable setting - all of this contributes to the narrative. Imagination is so much more vivid and free than any painting or structure can be, because it has no form and is not restricted by reality.

You're going to cause calamity because you are not satisfied with imagination alone.
